Anyone here thinking of writing a book about JWs?

It's been on my mind for a while and I will finally set about doing it soon.

Rather than just another "life story" or "prophetic lies" book, this one will be for the nonJW and the JW who is fading.

It will include a topic for a group who is often overlooked in JW books - Bible Studies

    Bible Studies

    1) Do We Have Your Attention? do you want to live forever? See an end to wars, murder, abuse?
    2) Following Up On The Interest - Would you like a free home Bible study?
    3) We'll Make You Feel Special - Jehovah has warmly invited you to....
    4) A Step At A Time - In order to please Jehovah you must attend all the meetings

A look at a Bible Study

    1) A Bible study without the Bible
    2) The Bible as a reference
    3) Question and answer format
    4) Student participation
    5) Asking awkward questions
    6) what stage in the study are you?

WHat aspect of JW? ex-Jw? What?

I think there is way too much literature already about JW stuff.

Tula, This book will be for the non JW to get an aspect of what life is like. The book will also be for Bible Studies - we tend to forget that there are 6,000,000 studies out there who are as yet, unaware of what they're getting in to.

I actually want to design the book as a manual, a how to guide or how about

I'm trying to find an agent for a novel I've written that is based on being a JW. It involves a totally fictitious religion, but the idea is to take the reader inside an apocolyptic cult. The last two agents I sent proposals to liked it, but are busy with other projects.

    Mine was going to be
"FADING FROM THE TRUTH: ESCAPING JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES WITHOUT LOSING YOUR FAMILY"

I was debating about changing the "ESCAPING" part to (suggested)
    "AN ALTERNATIVE FOR JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES."

I have kept the stuff I wrote, but decided not to write about fading. You are welcome to any portion
of my title, or all of it.

To be honest, I didn't have the heart to recommend fading. It's one thing on JWD where there is a two-way
communication on it, but quite another thing to sell it to strangers. Fading can really screw people up if
things go wrong. Expectations get too high.

I like the idea of a manual, but reaching out to Bible Students seems like it wouldn't reach the target.
Faders, themselves- if they reach the point where they are looking for material- probably just need the
standard "prophetic lies" books that are already available. C of C is still a great book. If they want something
newer, there's CAPTIVES OF A CONCEPT. Still, there are many issues and methods that a fader needs to
    consider.

I am mixed on it, having actually started myself, then quitting. So just lump my opinion in with the others.
Here's the book in a nutshell for methods of fading:
    Clinical depression
    Overtime / debt
    Family responsibilities
Move away / change congregations / confuse them on where you are / try a foreign lang. cong.
    Tell them you have doubts
    Just walk away

What about THIS SIDE OF EDEN: THE UNATTAINABLE SPIRITUAL PARADISE
SHORT OF EDEN: A FAILED ATTEMPT AT SPIRITUAL PARADISE
THIS SIDE OF EDEN: LEAVING THE SPIRITUAL PARADISE
SPIRITUAL PARADISE: AREN'T WE THERE YET?

Seriously, if you have done research to exit from the WTS, you will know that
it is easier to stumble across a book if it has WATCHTOWER or JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES
    in the title.

Googling or searching Amazon or Lulu might link to your book, might not.
    Awkward as it might sound:
THIS SIDE OF EDEN: JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES UNATTAINABLE SPIRITUAL PARADISE
THIS SIDE OF EDEN: LEAVING WATCHTOWER'S SPIRITUAL PARADISE

You get the idea. The great books I have named don't do that, but look at the rest of them. Many do
include JW's or WT in their title.
