Question: In Matthew 24:34 Jesus said: "Verily I
say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all
these things be fulfilled." What did he mean by "this
generation" ?
Answer: It could hardly be said that he meant any human
being living on the earth at that time. He was giving
testimony concerning things that were to transspire
at the end of the world. That was a long way off.
No generation of the human race has ever existed as
long as a thousand years. It follows then that Jesus
must have meant something else. What could he have
meant ? At the Jordan Jehovah started a new generation,
a new creation, of which Christ Jesus is the Head.
Jesus selected twelve disciples, who were with him for
three and one-half years. Eleven of these we have
every reason to believe constitute a part of that new creation.
In 1 Peter 2:9 the apostle, speaking to the church
of course, referred to those who are faithful. The irresistible
conclusion therefore is that Jesus referred to
the new creation when he said: "This generation shall
not pass until all these things be fulfilled." This then
would be a strong indication that some members of the
new creation will be on the earth at the time of Armageddon.

Seeing as "new creation" is a ephumism for "anointed",
it would seem that the New Light on "This Generation"
is, in fact, 80 years old.

Greetings and welcome to the forum inkling!
It looks as though you've put a lot of thought into your first post. I'll refrain from commenting personally as I've been scratching my head over this since 1995, so to speak.
Wishing you many replies to your comments and for me, a better understanding as to what all this purports to mean!
Best wishes,
CoCo

Zeroday, his point is well made. This is not a true "new light" that is about to
come out about the "generation" if their new information is just recycling of this
old light.Good job, and welcome to the forum.

Perhaps I misunderstood his point...

I don't quite grasp the profoundity of what you are saying, but welcome. Perhaps other posters will shed some *ahem* light on it, and I'll reach a "greater understanding". :)

Is there new new light coming out about this "generation" I have not heard...
Certainly, that is understandable. It's brand new, and still in the development stages here.
Apparently the yearly Business meeting at the Stanley Theater (or whatever they call that meeting)
was the place they let it slip that the "generation" understanding will be changed to something
connected with the anointed. It is believed that the new "members only" WT magazine will reveal
the rest of the story with the January issue.Inkling must have followed this, and found a post about a 1927 WT teaching. It would seem that
his "old light" would be closest to their "new light." So, yes- the "generation" is going to change. There are a few threads about it. Look around.
