Do they even care?

    Well, here's the latest.

I'm almost inactive with regard to the ministry - I simply don't go out. If I do the "guest star" thing, I never talk to anyone.

I put in about 5 hours a month - not to enough to raise an eyebrow - just enough to kill the radar.

    Meeting attendance is about 30%.

We have about 8 elders in our hall, and not one of them says a word to me. No phone calls, nothing.

I like it that way BUT

It's odd how they claim to leave the 99 sheep and go looking for the missing one when they don't do anything.

People at the hall ignore me now, for the most part.

I still give #2 talks when asked to. Then disappear after the school is over.

They don't know what to make of me. I'm not df'd, not registered as inactive and always put on a smile at the hall when I do go.

    Weird.

    Oh well.

My opinion, if it's meant to be, it will happen. I got Df without even doing any wrong and it was my key to get through the exit door and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. They were all ignoring me as well, waaaaaaay before I got out, so when I was Df, it was easy to accept because I felt that way anyway.

    Enjoy your journey!

I've seen posters before express this dichotomy.

On one hand, they want the elders to just leave them alone, but

otoh, they want them to just express some modicum of caring!

The elders just don't want to rock the boat sometimes. No hassels or need

to prepare for a special shepherding call.

Truthseeker, I spent over 20 years doing the same thing, just because of family. I was ignored but put on a smiley face. After a while, it was a game. How little could I do, and get away with? I played the game well. Of course I knew I was being "labeled" and marked. But after a while, you get accustomed to being ignored and not part of the "group". It is weird, but only for them. They all think alike, act alike and react alike.

    Do they even care? NO!

If I called the local Catholic church to send a priest to my house, he'd sooner show up than any of the elders in my congregation.

It's sad, just sad. I know how you feel.

Not that you would increase your activity, or in my case, go back, but that's not the issue. The issue is they don't care about the "lost sheep", period.

This religion is about survival. No JW is going to take off his life jacket and give it to anyone else. They teach selfishness and self centeredness. Sure, they give

lip service to love and sacrifice. But that's all it really is--- lip service. And it comes from the leadership, from the GB. They DO NOT CARE.

Many Elders know the deal and they are going through the motions. Who knows what is keeping them in their position of responsibilities. They are tired and worn out. They don't care, they just fill out the paperwork for when the C.O. comes around. They are stuck, some escape, some can't for personal reasons, family etc.

Some are diehards and won't lift a finger to care for or help a lost sheep, an elderly one, a sick one, etc. Wives have some elders under their thumb so to speak.

It's all a fake. They do care about controling people. Often, you will see someone in the early stages of leaving and they don't give a damn. Then the person becomes inactive, often for many years, and then suddenly they start hounding and harassing people. They have been known to harass well-known apostates in this manner, just to regain control. I guess much depends on the hounder-hounder.

Regarding the Elders, we have to remember that while in the Borg they are still under the brainwashed influence. Because.... once they leave and are considered apostates, they are usually pretty normal and caring individuals. Or have you not noticed the Ex-Elders among us in here? *wink* I'm glad they are here to share with us their experiences.

I always hear ""We all must find our on path" or "They have to make their own decision regarding salvation"

The concept of current Elders going out to look for 1 missing sheep is unheard, rather the response and attitude is more like that of Cain, when answering God's question to where Able was..." Am I my brother's keeper?"
