How To Repel Jehovah's Witnesses at Your Door

  The doorbell rings, and it is Jehovah's Witlesses. This is not all that unusual, but in this case you have made it clear that you do not want to be called on. There is a No Trespassing sign prominently displayed on your door, and they know you are absolutely not interested. Yet, like any Witless, they think they can get you in this time. What now?

  In light of a couple of threads of a recent indiscretion (I will not mention names, because that could be anyone next time), I find it appropriate to give some advise about what to do should this happen to you. First, make sure the No Trespassing or No Jehovah's Witnesses sign(s) are in plain view. There might be a place where you have to sign your name on the sign. Do so, since this makes them more enforceable. If they persistently call despite being warned not to, the best thing to do is to report a burglary in progress. Describe the "burglars" as best you can. Chances are, they are behaving in the same way a real burglar would and would be charged with attempted burglary. They might not have any weapons or intent to steal property, but the simple act of walking on an enclosed porch is enough. They might also get in trouble if they are looking into your windows while on your property, to discern if you are home.

  If this fails (for instance, you are on the street and they corner you and stop you from reaching a phone), then force might be needed. A simple warning that, if they don't immediately let you go, then force will be used, should suffice. If not, then you have the need to exert force to escape. Once you do that, then you should call the cops. The Witlesses then could face some serious criminal charges, including unlawful imprisonment, attempted kidnaping, and harassment. The goal is to make sure the Witlesses do not get the opportunity to pull this again. Repeat offenses of this nature can carry some pretty long jail sentences.

  I think they use small children and senior citizens in situations like this to create the illusion that the victim is actually a monster. Where children are involved, a good response would be to get the parents charged with endangerment of a minor. The child stands a good chance of gettiing pulled out of that [Witless] family in this case, which would serve both to punish those taking the lead and saving a child from the cult. If it's seniors, then you should still press charges. Of course, in either case, they will likely send someone else (they usually have enough to harass someone like this for a good long time, by the time it's up which the first offenders get out of jail). Send a letter to the congregation and to the lead hounder that any further calls on this person will result in serious criminal charges and embarrassment, including display of footage on CNN and a write up in Time magazine, plus a newspaper article stating that [congregation name] insisted on sending people to call on you despite repeated warnings not to. That should put enough embarrassment to stop it.

  Then there is the revenge issue. I think it's fair to pull out a copy of Crisis of Conscience and insist on studying out of that publication. But, if the Witlesses insist on calling on a high-profile apostate, I doubt that this will work. The average apostate might be able to use that trick. Ouija boards, a computer displaying a prominent apostate Web site, Christmas music going, and having a porn flick going on TV might also help drive the Witlesses away. But, any that are stubborn or witless enough to call on high-profile apostates should be put where they belong: in jail. And the whole congregation should be embarrassed to death.

  Finally, a word of wisdom. If you are one of Jehovah's Witnesses, PLEASE DO NOTCALL ON DANNY HASZARD! Continuing to do so is counterproductive and could result in serious criminal charges. Do not try that crap of sending small children or elderly people there, either, hoping that it will result in easement. Using human shields is highly reprehensible. Having a baby or very old person at the door to protect the congregation's ability to harass people with impunity is not acceptable. I would add, if a person has a Do Not Call record in the congregation, it is dumb to dishonor it. THESE FORMS DO NOT GO OUT OF DATE! Only if the person calls to cancel such notice should anyone ever call on them again. These people know where the Kingdom Hall is should they wish to change their minds. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS FOR THEM!

  A much simpler method that certainly works in England is to write a letter to the elders at the kingdom hall stating that you do not wish to be called on at your address as you are not interested in their message. They will simply lable you a goat that will perish at the big A in the near future. A note is normally put into the map of your area and the dubs are told not to call there.

  While I agree being raised as a witness isn't the best--it's not always abusive. What a horrible thought--taking the kids away from their parents--pretty scary for the kids.

  My mother was raised in a very abusive home. She said one reason she never told was that she was afraid of being taken away. She would have rather stayed with her abusive parents then face the unknown--or something worse.

  My parents raised me better then most parents raised my friends. How do you know if the parents are bad? Would you rather the child get shuffled to some sexual abusive foster family?

  I just tell them I don't want to associate with cults that protect child molesters. That one simple statement has never failed to end the conversation. I've only had to say it twice - once for each residence I've lived in since I left the cult. No one ever came back.

  That english approach in theory should be the way it works in the states also, but, more than likely the DNC's are lost as the paperwork is shuffled from publisher to publisher. When feild service arrangements are made out, they usually have nothing more than a teritory card where they'll meet at a specific corner and pair off down both sides of the street with no knowledge of who lives at what address. Their only goal is to work the territory. I live about a mile's distance from the KH my wife goes too and I still have the occasional duo come by trying to witness.

  It would make things so much simpler if there was a reliable way to be listed as a do not call, until further notice. And that further notice would have to come from the householder, who should know how to look up the Kingdom Hall should they change their minds. This would allow people that don't want the cult to be left alone, while stopping the Witlesses from wasting their time and possibly getting their literature drenched by an irate householder turning the hose onto their service bags.

  Why can't we just treat JWs like any other nuisance group that comes to our door or calls on the phone?

  A simple, "I'm not interested" and close the door before they can respond. What's wrong with that?

  Sure, they're irritating to most people. I find telemarketers highly irritating. I either don't answer the phone and let the machine get it, or I pick up and hang up without saying anything.

  To anyone who comes to the door selling anything, including religion, I say, "I'm not interested" and if they try to pursue the conversation anyway, I get rude and say, "Can't you take a hint? Please leave". I've never had anyone try to counter that one.

  I'm not out to persecute anyone who contacts me, I just want them to accept my 'no' answer and go on about their business without tying up my time any further.

  When they hand you down copies of Watchtower and Awake...hand them down your copy of Crisis of Conscience. That should do it...

  yes jws are just another nuisance bunch of people assuming they have something everyone wants. most churches don't harass people (well occ they will leave a flyer for a special meeting, or of course the sermons on TV can be annoying, but i have the choice to change the channel) they build a church and people come. I know where the KH is. people know how to make contact if they want to. jws should have utilized the tv like other religions.
