"This Generation" is No Big Deal

I spoke with an older sister who attended the annual meeting and has connections at Bethel.

I asked her about what the "generation" change was and she was almost dismissive about it, as if it

barely mattered. I asked if there was more ( 1935, 144.000 symbolic) and she replied that , no , she

didn't think there was anymore and that she would check her notes.

I suspect this "new light" may discourage old timers because yet another change in the meaning of the

generation only creates more doubts about the organization's leadership. Of course, being old-timers

they have no choice but to buy into it and pretend that it makes sense. They don't want to lose their

relatives and friends after so many years of sacrifice.

Well, she is right. It isn't a big deal. But it should be to those who still claim to believe the JW dogma and who still teach "present truth" (i.e., "future falsehoods") to others.

Nowadays, nothing should be too big a deal to the rank and file. After all, it will probably change back in a couple of years.

i told my folks...they kinda just shrugged it off.

sad really - at least in the past 'new light' was greeted with a modicum of excitement.

maybe it was just that they object to my being the one to tell them

Gee, if I was a witness who professed being a christian, I'd be over the moon if I was told that there was a possibility that I could claim
bible truths for myself, such as...

    Jesus as my mediator
    in-dwelling of the holy spirit
    Being in "the one fold"
    life in heaven/paradise
leaving the judging of others to God
    on and on

Yep... same experience here with all the JWs that I have shared it with.

Maybe because it's not official to them yet.

One comment that I did get when I mentioned that this was a change on the 1995 change was, "I didn't know it had changed anyway".

Another comment was "I don't understand any of that stuff".

The thing is that many of them actually believe that they are following Christ and doing the will of God. So they'll lap up anything and adapt to it. One JW even told me that "Apostates care more about the changes than the congregations do"

HEAD... BANG... WALL (repeat until unconscious).

If the old timers start paying attention now, then it will leave them without hope. They all are still hoping for the Big A in their life times. It is so sad

that instead of burning their own candle, they let the WTS do it for them. The generation change will extend the Big A into the distant future. Paradise

will come only after death, or as one speaker said in the last District Convention I attended: some will take the "underground" route to the New System. They

are so dismissive of the hopes they have built up in others who have hoped out of clean heart. These guys are evil.

Perhaps their attitudes are more in line with folks in the 'world' who attend church.

The ones who just dress up on Sundays and go to church - and hear 'feel good' words from the podium.

Words that tell them that they will be destroyed (go to hell) if they are not good enuf.

Pretty similar, if you ask me.

I didn't mention this latest possibility of change to anyone, but when I mentioned some time ago the 1995 changes to "this generation", the person I spoke to was still in line with the old doctrine, apparently unaware of the change.

So, I am not surprised with the reactions those JWs are showing.

If I were still a JW, I would be excited about any BIG CHANGES! I would just think that the light is REALLY getting

brighter now in these last seconds of the last minutes of the last days. I really don't think they care that much. The

change might cause a few to leave, but the vast majority that have devoted years and years to this dog and pony show

will continue right on the way they've been doing. My sister told me that if Armageddon doesn't come in her lifetime, well,

she will just die knowing she was faithful to the end and will be resurrected.
