I got a flyer on my door this morning. I was about to throw it away because it was a center opening up for a daycare. I decided to call them to find out what their charges are to see if they were any lower...unfortunately they weren't. In fact, they were higher. They charge $175. a week per child for care...ouch. Though they suggested for me to get on title II.. I've never heard of title II because I've never been in this situation before.
Anyway, she started talking to me about the title II and how I can apply. I happened to mention that I was recently divorced and I was trying to figure out how to work at a minimum job while at the same time pay for childcare. I told her that my situation will change in the future because I'm going to college but I need to find something to get me through until then.
That's when she stopped and asked..."You're going to college?" She went on to say, "we have an opening for a job at the new center, would you be interested?" She was impressed with me going full time in college. She asked me if my schedule was flexible and I told her it is depending on the babysitting arrangements. She told me my kids would automatically be enrolled there and they can basically come to work with me. WOW
She's going to call me next week to set up an interview. I SOOOO hope this works out because this will lift some of my financial burden. I'm so glad I mentioned I was going to college...YAY!
I still have to ask her if there is a discount for employees for childcare because the job pays minimum wages. It takes 30 days for the Title II to start (from what she said) and I would have to turn down yet another job if there isn't a discount because it would cost me way to much to work. 2 kids at $175 per week is a heck of a lot of money.
