Feeling self reproach becuase one sought relief from the pain of being human is just a goad of the mind to keep the spirit of a person under control of the mind. The reverse is the reality of humaness

Society as a whole predisposes us to being cult members CULTure The word to describe a group of humans who share a common existence

We are all the end result of being duped. Whether we join a more select wierdness or not ,we are all members of a cult untill we choose to undue the conditioning that society enforces as soon as we draw a breath.

Unlearning this conditioning can be painfull as in seemingly bad experiences or pleasurable as in feeling a sense of fullfillment

Either way we must seek the freedom from the mental constructs that we use to define who we are and what we should be doing and just understand things as they are without the predisposed and conditioned intellect imposing it's view.

Learn to BE what you are. do not seek to know what you are.

I read and post becouse JW is like a soap opera, or a book you can not put down. Every time I read a poster profile it make me feel how lucky I was never born into or joined the wt. I have learned one think the only JW that will see paradise are the black cows grazing in the grass on the grounds of the WT in patterson NY. All they do all day is eat grass, screw and then they go to sleep under a tree. Then at night they are taken into the barn and the bethalites milk and wash then.

Some are dating jws (or df'd jws)

Some are married or living with jws

Some have family members who are jws

Some work with people who are jws

And are confused or curious about what they believe and do

Other than these exceptions posted by Beautiful Blondie, I've wondered the same thing at times. Now, Ex-Mormons might also be an exception, because I think they would have some understanding of what we experienced. Other than that, how could anyone possibly know what HELL we have been through? Ive never been a jw but I come here for two reasons.

My first wife allmost became a jw soon after we were married and I studied with the jws too.

My own religion the SDAs has a large group called the concerned bretherine which in some ways remind me of JW cultic attitudes. Some SDAs also are Arian like the JWs

    summer:

    i guess i was wrong.

no...you are not wrong...you areperfectly welcome. ..(now that we have you unconfused with the poster "winter"...lol)

i for one appreciate a non JW perspective...having been raised a witness from age 4 on...I like to hear the view from the "outsiders"... now that I am telling non-JW coworkers and friends i am walking away from Dubville...they all ask "What took you so long?...we always thought you were smarter than that to be caught in a cult."....so I listen to non JW opinions and file them away...so please keep posting...

dont let naysayers push you away from here...they have their opinion, just like you and i...they are welcome to post it (within reason)..we are welcome to accept or reject it...

"opinions are like buttholes...everyone has one....and they often stink"..dont know who to credit that line to...so anonymous gets credit.

    journey on:

"I dont agree with a thing you say {in this case}, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." I believe French philosopher Voltaire gets credit for that..

Journey On- I think you are still feeling a witness hangover view of quote " worldly people ". Believe me, having been out 4 years I have seen more non witness people act kindly like a real witness should have been acting all along ! They will be even more understanding of you , because of not having been a witness and can give a refreshingly non-judgemental opinion many times. My wife got on it as a non witness to see how to deal with my witness family. It has helped her, and it works. Please don't lump people into one category, just because of not having been witnesses. Believe me, it was not THAT special that we were decieved as members of a twisted cult ! People cannot be brushed with the same stroke

I work with one, and needed to get answers from when the 2 of us had study sessions. The problem is that almost everything he has told me, is the opposite of what I have found out on this blog.

Now you might ask me whom do I believe? I was hoping to have believed in him, because it all sounded fine, 'till the pieces of the puzzle weren't fitting well.

I did not get on this forum to try to offend anyone or any situation. I have never been a JW and never imagined they would affect my life in so many ways. I was under the understanding that all were welcome. I can't image how difficult it has to be to leave family, friends and life longs ties, but I know that one day my husband may face this. It will, for me at least, be a bitter sweet parting. Just thought this website could give me some insight as to how to help him. I understand your concern,
