Well it's off to bed for me - I fear the eerie sound of that presentation shall accompany me for the night.
Jeff
Ok they NEED to be shut down.
Wow, thanks Jeff, I knew about Lisa McPhearson but didn't know about these others, it does not surprise me in the least.
Yep... as they say... "it could have been worse."
Yup...looking at that ytmnd makes me just the slightest bit happier that I wasn't born into that cult....
The photos are haunting.
JWs may be guilty of causing much pain for people and even death with their blood and transplant bans but at least when a member is sick they either just let them be or dump them back on whatever family will take them.
The more I know about scientology, the more horrific it seems. I did not know about the deaths and tortures.
I need to go find something funny to erase the images in my brain.
But thank you for sharing.
-Aude.
I read the larger story of Lisa Mcpherson. Don't know how any judge could have reduced the amt, or not bring charges himself. But the JW's are guilty also, in letting people die, with the blood non issue.
according to some of the info I am finding, they actually stalk and kidnap many of their members who try to flee :

"mentally enslaved by false promises of gaining godlike powers if you duplicate "Ron".(*do exactly what he says) "
According to one site, these are the tactics they use:
Fallacious Argument WORKS
Hypnotism WORKS
Repetition WORKS
Electricity WORKS
Propaganda WORKS
Lawyers WORK
Private Investigators WORK
Blackmail WORKS
Gag agreements WORK
Information Control WORKS
and most importantly:
Fear WORKS!
http://ocmb.lermanet.us/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=381
They have "re-education camps" : JW JC committee have "thought reform" discussions
Lawyers:lawyers
repetition: repetition
(JW--repetition of habitual meetings, repetition of memorization of select scripture repeatedly used for any argument whether it fits the subject or not)
Blackmail: Blackmail, (albiet Wbts are holding the dead as ransom..."You'll never see your dead sister if you don't do as we say")
Gag agreements: secrecy no witnesses to JC meetings
Hypnotism: hypnotism
The meetings are a form of this. What adult raises their hand like a 4 year old and begs to repeat a sentence from a magazine? What adult cherishes the privelige (thank you for letting me help you!) of sweeping a floor?
Private investigators: In-house gossips
The similarities are striking. I don't see a discussion board listed for them. And those actually escaping seem more recent than the JWs.
There is a new book out "Escaping Scientology" from one daring person who was in for 17 years and also worked in headquarters. It was just published in April 2007.
Perhaps this board will expand to include many others from various cults. They all have great similarities and their own little twists.
This film you posted is very powerful.
Why is no one able to stop this mental abuseby religious cults?
Or ...the old question comes circling around around again...were they already predisposed to mental problems before joining?
Thanks for posting the informative video.
AK JEFF- Thanks so much for posting this informative , enlightening , information. I wonder how many other religions, or cults as we should now call most of them ( in my humble opinion ) are doing criminal things to their members like this ? We know the witnesses do this controlling garbage to their members also. The blood issue, molestation cover ups, and the Malawi ordeal have cost many witnesses their lives too, all because of following stupid men who want the power these decieved people gave them. May all of us continue helping others to escape these abusive mind controlling cults such as Scientology, and Jehovah's Witnesses Great post, Jeff
Incredible! You can get away with literally anything simply by calling yourself a religion and having an expensive and effective legal team!
