You're not old until you need 2 blue pills instead of one.

By my definition, one is an "old fogey" when they become intolerant of the attitudes that are common among young people and denounce things that young people normally do as wicked. As such, one can be an old fogey at the age of 18. This actually is fairly common within the Watchtower Society.

This also means that one can be an old fogey at a young age, leave the Tower, and adopt a more tolerant attitude toward common activities of younger people. This person could be an "old fogey" at 20 but not at 40. In fact, some ex-JWs that denounced normal youth activities while growing up actually find themselves joining in, or at least condoning, them once they leave.

"Old"? Usually when a person hits the age of 60, they are looked at as old. I think of people as "old" when they have so many disabilities and chronic "illnesses" that they are unable to do normal activities without interference from some condition. Often they eat more pills (pharmaceutical pills) than food. Also, the person's condition cannot be something that strikes young people or a birth problem. It needs to be something that develops naturally as people age, like severe arthritis, diabetes type 2, strokes, heart disease, and the like. Once the quality of life is diminished significantly by these conditions, a person will feel "old". However, such a person can still embrace the lifestyle of the younger people (that is, normal lifestyle).

You're old when the candles cost more than the cake. Old is when you stop being young. I had an uncle who died last year. He was in his 80s. He never got old. He always had fun. That's the way I wanna go out.

My wife at one time told me when I hit 30 that I was old, we have been married over 30 yrs now and I no longer hear it. She though looks remarkably well for one her age, she has been taken several times for my daughter which must mean I look old for my age??? Anyway age old or young is how you personally look at it and feel about it. I still feel like I'm somewhere in my mid 20's, although reality rears its ugly head every once in awhile.

I used to think 30 was incredibly old but then didnt we all. I am starting to wonder if we ever do feel old truly - or is it just in comparison to other people. When you stop comparing yourself to everyone else then I think you are just you - unique, spicey, mature, and with more to learn than you ever can in one lifetime.

I compare myself to the age of the universe instead of Paris Hilton lookalikes in my local nightclubs and I feel positively child like!
