Bob is a GREAT Singer! If you don't like his voice thats' OK but it is simply not true that he cannot sing!

I love Bob's lyrics for sure, but it's the performance which does it for me! He is simply a great singer and a true artist in every sense. Eccentric? sure! A bit crazy? Sure. Can be rude? Sure! He's a Rock star for Chrissakes!

He doesn't want people to like HIM - he just wants you to like the music..

This is what I think. The guy can write like a demon but his physical presence is a bit . . . creepy, and that god awful nasally whine!!! He just pushes me away from him.

I wholeheartedly agree. His voice is like nails down a chalkboard. *Shivers*

I like Bob Dylan, voice and writing and music. I also really enjoyed the public television documentary - interesting that he does not see himself as the voice of a generation or of a movement. He was just speaking his mind, and it resonated with the public. There's an interesting kind of honesty there, especially when you look at it next to some of the not especially nice things he did as a young man.

I bought his music more than anyone else's music, I think all his different voices sounds good. I really liked "Bood on the Tracts".

I can still recall my awakening to the injustices we faced during the 60's.

This song was our anthem during those times.

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
    Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
    Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

In Scorcese's film, Joan Baez reports a conversation she'd had with Dylan, as he was writing some song words and, as she pointed out that they were not making sense, he replied something like "you're right but never mind, some people will see poetry in them." Could Dylan have been a scamer at some point in his career as he thought that about anything he could do would be revered ?

Dylan in the 'Rolling Thunder' years ... incredible.

The imagery that he created with his lyrics are without equal. You could have a party and people go as characters from his songs - there are so many and so well described.

He has transformed into several different 'acts' along the way too, practically all of them outstanding
