Spoken Like A True Jehovah's Witness?

    There is another thread discussing the Bible Student groups and I mentioned many similarities there between JW's and Bible Students, since I've had contact with both groups.

    Now, Bible Students will strongly disagree that they are just like their sisters the JW's. So without saying another word, I present this statement made by a Bible Student on a Bible Student Forum.

    In response to a question someone named Bible Helper had as to why BS believe Christ came invisibly in 1874;

    Bible Helper, I understand the reason why this went over your head. This is not taught in the churches! By reading the Studies in the Scriptures along with the scriptures you begin seeing a glimpse of light of the truth. Most everyone in Christendom are in spiritual darkness by their own choice, the Studies in the Scriptures are a Bible study aid to help us to come to see the truth of God's Word as it should be understood comparing scriptures with scriptures! This information is quite "meaty" for someone who is young but it can be "grasped" by chewing it bit by bit in gaining an understanding of God's Word.

    Do you think this exact statement sounds just like something a JW would say; give or take a few changes in words? Can anyone tell me exactly what points made in this statement are similiar to a JW's viewpoint?

    This is being posted not to pick on BS but to prove a point for those JW's who may be considering leaving the WT and associating with a BS group. I thought rather than give my experience, which many BS will say is my own opinion and not based on fact, I would use their own words to prove my point. Anyway, you be the judge. Lilly

    I think I threw up in my mouth alittle after reading that. It's so JW-like it's not even funny.

    How illogical is that?? Can;t you just picture someone saying, "Gee I think I should go to this church because I love its spiritual darknes."

    Thanks guys for your answers. It is EXACTLY like something a JW would say. If you go to the BS forums and read all the "talk" back and forth you will be amazed at how similiar they are to their JW sister organization.

    Just like the Witnesses they claim to have truth that the churches of Christendom do not have and you need an additional book besides the bible to understand what that truth is. Also, this Bible Student is telling this guy to "chew" the information bit by bit and digest it. It reminds me of the several times in the WT when we were instructed not to reject what was written in the WT just because it is "hard to digest" at first. This is code speak as we now know for you have to digest any rubbish we give you no to eat no matter how vile it feels going down. Or, you are not really in the "truth" or "light" like we are. Of course it never occurs to any of these guys that the poor guy cannot digest their "meaty food" because it is just plain junk food in the first place.

    It astonishes me how many JW's leave the WT and go right into the Bible Student groups. I think because at least they can celebrate the Holidays and find most Bible Students more loving than the JW's. But in reality they are still in spiritual darkness and being led into worship of men. (or a man in the BS case). Its unfortunate becasue they never break thier mind free and learn how to really think and reason on evidence presented to them.

    Then again you have to wonder if they get duped a second time if they are just not plain lazy and want to eat pre-packaged food someone else dishes out rather than investigate things for themselves?

    Sure, it's JW like. But at least it revolves around a message, a set of ideas, and not so much around an organization.

    The elitism hinges on acceptance of Russell's message, not on being under the dictates of some governing body.

    So I think its definitely an improvement over JW-ism...
    I say if becoming a BS helps one leave the JWs, then good.

    Gopher - Maybe they're spiritually fair-skinned and don't want to get spiritually sunburned?

    That could lead to spiritual skin cancer, requiring spiritual chemotherapy.

    You poor souls have no idea what you're talking about. But that's okay, unlike the JW"s to whom "we're so much alike" and would sentence to you eternal death at armageddon, You will ALL be in the Kingdom when it is fully established. But that doesn't mean you'll be able to stick your tongues out at the Governing Body, you'll have to be on your "P's and Q's"
