They keep them. Many families keep every family member's copy of every book on the shelf. I have known families who throw EVERYTHING away and live very sparsely to still have SHELVES and SHELVES of the old books displayed for everyone to see.
The more creative households arrange them in some sort of rainbow color scheme across the shelf (no, not kidding.)
Yes.
They keep them.
They use old books for study sessions to keep r&f busy.Ex.The old Revelation book 1988 edition with a new 2006 printing of the book with a whole slew of changes.p159 para.18 "The Finished Mystery book of 1917.In time, though, this book proved to be unsatisfactory as an explanation of Revelation."Than on p165 para.16 GET THIS...."In 1917 the Bible Students published The Finished Mystery, a powerful commentary on Revelation and Ezekiel."Unbelieveable.I don't know what happened the to light.Maybe a powerful unsatisfactory commentary on Revelation.
