    nvr,

I ask sincere questions about two statements in your reply.
If the Bible is to be considered trustworthy, as I gather that you do, how is it to be explained that God is now being patient with those that do not believe in Him or doubt His existence or interest in human affairs while He was very active exterminating offensive nations in ancient times. Why the disparity?

What is forgotten (or never discerned) by many is that just as populations or partial populations of nations that behaved "offensively" were "exterminated", so were the Israelites when they turned their back on God's statutes. The covenant God made with Abram was fulfilled by His blessing the nation of Israel as long as they kept his statutes, that was the oath they made to God. All too often they did not keep His statutes, and for this they were punished by the nations around them that did endeavor to keep God's statutes, even though these nations did not ever make the oath to keep these statutes. The "children of Israel", who were they, really? They were God's chosen people, not because of their bloodline, but because of their obedience to God. The "children of Israel", since the institution of Christ's new covenant, which fulfilled the old covenant, are obedient Christians who endeavor to do those things taught by Christ that are necessary for salvation, avoiding sins of ommision or comission, God's chosen people, true Christians, modern "Israel". So, there's no disparity, simply patience until His day when God will judge everyone as individuals, in His righteous judgement, and will give to some life, and others everlasting cutting off.

Do you feel that Armageddon is imminent? If so, why?

I answered this in another thread, but basically, I believe it is coming. As for the day and hour, only God knows. Here's what I posted on the other thread in reply:

Unlike those who try to guess dates, I simply say "it's coming", as a matter of fact. I don't pretend to know when, and I have often been the first to point out that, just as with Global Warming, when you net it out, things these days are different, but not necessarily worse than, the past centuries.

Having said that, I do now believe that:

-the world monetary/financial systems are falling apart,

-the world ecological/climate systems are falling apart,

-the world political systems are falling apart,

-the world educational systems are falling apart,

-and the world religious systems are falling apart.

That is simply based on my reading the news, watching what is happening within all these systems.

I don't know when the end is coming, but I don't think it at all unlikely that it will occur in my lifetime. Yes, there have been plenty of others who thought the same. It's called mental preparedness.

Better to be prepared for the odd bear attack when camping than to say "it won't happen", imo.

If you feel that I ask these questions to mock or ridicule you or you faith that would be most unfortunate.

I've never thought that about you, nvr. You should know me better than that. However, even for those who do mock belivers, I simply refer to the beatitudes (Luke 6:22-23), and count myself "blessed":

Blessed are you when men hate you,

when they exclude you and insult you

and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

"Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets."

Not all atheists are Godhaters. Some of us would like to believe but sincerely have a very hard time doing so.

I realize that, nvr. If only everyone could cast off their preconceived notions and stop reading things into others beliefs that just aren't there, we'd have much better conversation. It's human nature that's to blame, I suppose.

However, I'm sure we both agree, our personal thoughts about the matter have no effect on the reality of the situation, be it that He exist or not.

Well, I have to say that, as you know, I have faith that He exists, and so "our personal thoughts", if aligned with His, provide us with a much better chance of survival. Better prepared for a possibilty than unprepared, I say. Even moreso for a probabilty.

    Peace and a to you.

    Right back at ya, friend!

God is whispering at an unaudible level in ancient hebrew to the english speaking members of the GB.... I hear he has been ignoring Losch though, because every breeze he hears he swears god is speaking.... God thinks he is an idiot among idiots....

God also ordered a pepperoni pizza yesterday from Papa Johns.... He likes their name....
