I do not really believe in the 'noah' fable. Or the ark.
But - that being said... there is an interesting side-bar that goes along with the noah story.
There is a man in the bible mentioned... as the 'oldest' man who lived. Methuselah.
Genesis 5:27 states, "And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died" (American Standard Version). - Wikipedia
One time I 'ran the numbers' - you know - the ages listed in Genesis that everyone lived. It's really cool - if you spreadsheet it all out.
What is interesting - according to these numbers - Methuselah died the very same year of the flood.
So - this means that while he may have lived a long time... he could have lived longer - IF - he had bought a ticket for the 'ark ride'.
Since he didn't get a ride on the ark... he must've been one of the 'wicked' ones that were destroyed at the flood.
That is - if - you believe in the flood myth.
I don't.
