I recall buying a new car and thinking, "this car will still be around when the end comes"

    It didn't.....

Then I recall when they were building the Molson Center in Montreal where the Montreal Canadiens hockey team would be playing, and I was thinking to myself, "they will never play there.....cause the end will come first".

They've been playing there since years.....

We were preparing a local high school for our circuit assembly when I was about 10. I remembering looking at the huge hallways and thinking I was glad I would never go there, the end would be here before then.

I graduated from there in 1991.

I was a true believer, but I never could understand how the society could say that the preaching work was near finished.

I mean, come on, the general world populance doesn't know Jack shit about the JW's.

And right here in the US, where the religion got it's start, most people still don't know Jack shit about "the good news"

Sphere, (who does happen to know Jack Shit.)

In 1974, they tore up one of the main roads between our house and the Kingdom Hall in Golden Valley.

It was a lengthy reconstruction project. My dad said it would be "so sad" if the road would never get used again.

Edited--- SPHERE -- I know Jack's brothers, Horse and Bull.

It was always going to be before the next SuperBowl. That was starting with IV. It was THAT CLOSE.

I guess measured it about the same as you guys did and it was ALWAYS around the corner.

No, I never thought I would attend high school, or finish elementary school for that matter. Never thought I would grow up, truth be told. Surely I would l marry in the new system and have a perfect husband. Well..........that didn't turn out well. Married a real jerk and stayed with him for 5 years even though he was abusive and cheated constantly. That marriage happened after I had been df'd. So they put my body out of the organization but kept my mind in.

I still panic from time to time. Is it just something you never get over?

As a kid I just prayed I would be dead before Armagedon and just wake up in the new world. I was so scared of armagedon.

Maybe I wasn't as much of a hardcore believer as I thought, but for some reason I just knew I would get old in this "system".

By how many of the faithful "1914 Generation" were still around.

Since my grandparents "witnessed the events of 1914" and lived to 89 and 93 respectively,
I started to get nervous in my mid-30s. One of many reasons I decided to "return to Jehovah."

Had no clue the WTBTS had changed the Generation definition in 1995. Was told "some" did
not understand correctly, meaning ME. But I know what I was taught in the 70s and 80s and
the publications bear that out even if current Witnesses dismiss the lies.

Now they're changing it again, go figure?

I'd never graduate high school before the end. I did really well on the ASVAB, and the air force sounds cool, but what if the end comes then I'd be screwed. Surely it will happen before 2000. Maybe it's not coming.
