Elizabeth Gladys "Millvina" Dean of Southampton, England, who was 2 months old at the time of the Titanic sinking, is now the disaster's only remaining survivor, according to the Titanic Historical Society.
OK so just got this from MSN. So only 1 survivor left from Titanic - she was 2 months old in 1912 - 2 years from 1914. You can see why "The Generation" etc. is being changed. It was totally untenable and increasingly ludicrous.

Stilla, if they actually thought they were God's people with some insight from God,
they would have left that "1914 generation" doctrine alone. They would have had faith that
they only needed one survivor way into the 21st Century to make their prophecy come
true. They could still be expecting Armageddon any day now, with the generation
winding down to only a small handful.
The fact is that they changed this doctrine because membership numbers would suffer more
if they did not change it.
As I talk to my best friend who is still not allowing himself to think for himself, he reminds me
that so many JW's were serving for a date. When I joined around the end of the 80's, it would
have been true of me, also. I needed Armageddon to arrive in the next 10 years, and it did not.
I see the reality of this- The Governing Body doubts their own claims. My friend swears that
it means Jehovah has sifted out the ones who greedily serve so they could soon pet lions and
own mansions along a brook in paradise (my words of his thoughts).
So remember that Jehovah has allowed foolish men to lead his organization to show mankind
what He can do.

Yes, earlier this year in the spring the Titanic slipped away from living human memory as the last person alive that was old enough to remember the incident (and survive) died.

I believe on another thread that at the annual meeting of the WTBTS there was a talk saying that the "generation" of Matt 24, is now ALL the "anointed" from 33CE onwards, not just those from 1914.
It is supposed to be the subject for study in the February 15th, 2008 Watchtower.
We'll have to wait and see.
But nothing surprises me anymore about how they juggle these things to make them fit changing times.

I do not see any further change...if it occurs.... mattering at all. The one in 1995 will not be affected will it? Now we are still recruiting angels for the GB too....so it will never end..........oompa

onthewayout has said a truism in his post . The G B must have seen the need to change their doctrine . The rest of us within the Borg used to say that it would only need one old boy who could remember WW1 in order to fulfill the prophecy . We believed, they doubted and bottled it by changing the story . They changed a simple point into a nonsensical one, that I could never understand...
BTW the American VA said earlier this year that they knew of four WW1 survivors in the U.S.
