The Associated Jehovah's Witnesses for Reform on Blood is a diverse group of Witnesses from many countries. Some members are presently serving as elders and Hospital Liaison Committee members or have previously served in that capacity.

I came across them a few years back, but I never believed the quote above. I do not believe there are movements for change inside the Org. Anyone who would openly seek change would be disfellowshipped. This does not only apply to the blood issue, but to anything, like silent lambs.

I understand why some people decide to stay inside the WT for the sake of their family etc, but it takes a particular kind of moral corruption to remain an elder when you do not believe what you will certainly be called on to teach to others. Some have claimed they remain elders to make whatever subtle changes they can - but that is a lost cause and an honest Witness would know that.

As everyone else already mentioned, this site has been around for years. It was even around during the H2O days(pre-JWD). It was one of the first sites that really made my brain start thinking for itself as I was 'coming out.'

    Great website!

That website is actually how I started my whole WT research, by first reading Wayne Rogers' story and what happened to him. This was my can opener that opened the WT's can of worms in my life. Randy's Free Minds took care of the rest.

When my mother became sick I finally got an attitude adjustment and an education on blood. JW's do not have a clue on this issue

The Associated Jehovah's Witnesses for Reform on Blood

    Who are we?

The Associated Jehovah's Witnesses for Reform on Blood is a diverse group of Witnesses from many countries. Some members are presently serving as elders and Hospital Liaison Committee members or have previously served in that capacity. Additionally, other members are from the medical field or have friends or relatives who are Witnesses. All have volunteered their time and energies in an effort to bring about an end to a tragic and misguided policy that has claimed thousands of lives, many of them children.

How can I become a member of the association?

For security reasons we have elected to have no formal membership at this time. If you have read the information on the site and support our objective, subscribe to our list. If you would like to be involved - write to us at [email protected]. If you can tell us something about your background or experience and capabilities, we will try to put your talents to work. Your financial support is greatly appreciated as well.

Can I contact other members of AJWRB?

You may contact the AJWRB members listed below. If you are a current Jehovah's Witness, it is recommended that you set up an anonymous email account at hotmail or some similar web based email provider that doesn't require you to use your real name. Password protect your computer and do not allow other Jehovah's Witnesses to view your email, bookmarks or notes.

What is requested of members of the association?

That according to your abilities and personal circumstances you will be an advocate of reform and support AJWRB and assist in achieving its goals. Some members have established foreign language versions of the AJWRB web site so our work has become international in its scope.

I have never heard of this group before and I was amazed to find out there was a group of current JW's who disagreed with one of the key doctrines.

I wish I had known about them years ago. I emailed the website to my mum who was also amazed to hear about a group like this.

I didnt see how they could directly disagree with doctrine until I saw it was all anonymous, but I still think it would be incredibly hard to be a serving member of the HLC and be a member of this group. Surely you would be wanting to whisper to the JW in the hospital bed "hey, take blood if you want it", rather than placing pressure on them to refuse, even in the face of death.

Long before I found JWD, I found their site. I do believe that there may be a very large groundswell of active Jw's who accept the reasonable thinking of this group.

You can be damned sure that Brooklyn is tuned in to it also. I believe they are affecting policy, and though personally I don't believe a cult can be reformed, at least in any longterm beneficial way, this group seems to be having an effect in the past few years. I'm sure Teddy has it bookmarked.

Without getting into whether I think the biographical info supplied by AJWRB is accurate or current: There is a huge disconnect between what the HLC boys actually do when they get to the hospital and what the average dub thinks they do. the most active HLC guys often have a good working relationship with the hospitals they "serve" and consider it their job to reconcile the dub patient with the medical staff. Rather than advising patients to "resist..;.even to the point of death," many of these guys will persuade the dubs that "Mother" has provided a number of "outs" such as fractions, drugs, equipment, all designed to allow dubs the appearance of avoiding a blood transfusion while accomplishing the same thing.

It's true there are many idiots serving on HLCs, as you'd expect (just look at any body of elders and observe the idiot quotient). And some cause harm. But usually there is a "leader" amopng them with a smattering of medical knowledge and the others defer to him. These are the guys who are often hired by hospitals as "bloodless surgery" consultants or coordinators. They get those jobs because they help the hospital interface and communicate with dub patients - the vast majority of whom have no clue what the Society's current stand on blood might be and need to be told.
