Has anyone noticed Christmas music being played 'early' on radio and some shopping malls?

We have a radio station here that has been playing Christmas music 24/7 for the last couple weeks or more. My oldest son has been going to sleep to that station. He asks me if I wanted to hear it, I told him not until after Thanksgiving.

Here they started playing it on a couple stations the day after Halloween. Most of the stores and downtown is already decorated.

If you were visiting Montreal right now, certain streets that are lined with trees have colorful Christmas lights. The same with some buildings and the casino.

I had to laugh a few weeks ago when I went shopping at my local Walmart store. While checking out the christmas decorations (out in October!), I noticed Christmas music playing over the loud speaker. I couldn't believe that xmas music was on the radio already.
But as soon as I stepped out of the xmas aisle and into another one, a totally different tune was playing! I stepped back into the xmas aisle and thats when I got it. They were piping in xmas music only into the aisles that had xmas stuff for sale. No doubt this is a ploy to get us in the xmas mood earlier so they can sell more stuff.
I had to laugh at Walmart because I was like "thats ingenious". Lilly

I used to think trotting out the Xmas misuc and decorations and "seasonal products" before Thanksgiving was rude - but this year, yes, it started the week before Halloween! No music on the radio stations yet, but the decorations for sale, the business decorations, piped over the loudspeakers...I'm willing to participate with my in-laws and all, but sheesh, I feel a little abused!

Right on Lovelylill. They're sucking people early into the Christmas spirit, and who $$$$$$$$$$$ from it? Ah yes, big business. A great ploy. I wonder how people who set aside monies for other things get sucked into this ploy?
