I know what you are saying about the "I don't want to know" attitude some of them have. They live in a fantasy world, with their fingers in their ears saying "la, la, la, I can't HEAR youuuuuuuu! And then when you ask them a difficult question, they get that blank look on their face and either repeat a canned answer that doesn't even answer the question or quickly change the topic.
I am so sad for them, because they are living a delusion.

The problem is that most of the litter-ature is written at fifth grade reading level. Occasionally, you will find something specious about a particular point on something that doesn't matter, and they will build it into something totally ridiculous (who is affected by an agreement that was between God and Abraham or David, for instance; let alone how they differ in some specious way).
This is their world. They are trained not to participate in school. No going online (those damn apostate sites). No extra-curricular activity (bad association). No higher education. Vacations are spent going to hound those where they are living in peace to join the scam. Anything beyond that is demonized and not to even be looked at. Curiosity is killed off, which also kills the development of intelligence. And that's why they are functioning at a fifth grade level.
No offense to those who are younger than 5th grade. At least they are moving forward. And they will eventually surpass the Witlesses. Only the Witlesses destined to turn apostate will outscore most fifth graders. Some that are particularly retarded are even below a three-year old. (Any hounder that tells me that the arrangement is for me to just meet other men at a$$emblies and makes such arrangement is not functioning at any positive age level).

In their defense... I think that even newspapers are instructed to write at about a 6th or 7th grade reading level, right? I think that any literature directed at the general public is supposed to be at that level so everyone can understand it...
I am in no way condoning this but I think this is the trend for all public literature across the board.
Pretty sad, no?

What's weirder than that is the intelligence downshift that many Witnesses manage. Here's how it works:
You start an intelligent conversation with a Witness ( including some Bethelites) regarding some secular, work-related matter and then
shift the subject to the "truth". Poof! Suddenly you are talking to a 4 year old child. It's amazing! Talk about mind control!
