WOW!! Hi-def television from the moon!

  Click on the image to get the hi-def full resolution. This is really cool....the Kaguya/Selene spacecraft is beaming back hi-def video of the moon's surface, which you can watch (alas, in a resized form) on the web. This earthset is truly grand, don't you think?

  Are they colour-enhanced ?

  I have also wondered... do any photos exist of the landing sites of the Apollo landers ? ie... any debris that they left behind ?

  Here is an article on why photos of lunar landing sites are usually so poor: http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2005/11jul_lroc.htm

  It notes that we should be getting useable photos next year when a new spacecraft arrives at the moon, with the highest resolution camera to date.

  Very cool, I had read the Space.com article the other day but I didn't see the videos. I like the fact that they point out that there's "(no audio)".

  SacrificialLoon....I'm pretty sure the original audio that was recorded by the spacecraft was "Thus Spoke Zarathustra"; the audio has been withheld for our protection. Here it is with the audio restored (20 seconds in):
