Nations that allow for freedom of thought and religion seem to thrive the most to me, to be, the most 'ascended' Nations, whereas there have been Christian/Muslim/Atheist dictatorships alike that kill anyone who disagrees with their beliefs and are the ones that have committed the worst atrocities.

If my "God " or whatever the alleged great spirit in the sky is was in charge, like the native americans who believed in sharing the land with their fellow brothers and telling each person to go in peace and to go in a good way , I would feel we would each dwell in our land and respect others and leave each other to live our lives in peace. I do believe humanity is ascending, but it's in spite of religion, not thanks to it.

Did religion serve a purpose in our evolution?

Were important cultural contibutions made by religious persons?

Yes to both questions.

I hope that the new generation continues to question the old dogmas.

BTW, I'm no hater of Christians.

I have no Atheist Bible that decrees that they be killed.

But I do have a Judeo-Christian Bible that has lots of violent judgments against the "unfaithful".
