I did not have a tree last year and was not able to decorate it the year before although I did put one up. It's a pretty pre-lit tree with fibre optics. The only thing is I have this cat, Simon. I rescued him from the woods where some creep must have dumped him. His eyes weren't even open yet. I could not find him a home and now I'm stuck with him. Anyway, he lived in the tree the first year I put it up. I would not dare put my ornaments on it because most are glass and fragile. Oh, and he's Jewish so I had to go buy a Menorah for him. (long story).

Last year I was away for Christmas so it didn't matter about not having a tree. But, this year I'll be home and I will set it up on or about December 1. Since Simon is now 2+, I hope I can decorate it this year without him trying to destroy everything.

Anyone want a cat? He comes with his own Menorah.

Well,we did it. While playing Christmas carols on the XM we put up our little bit of Christmas cheer. Way too early, I know. We just couldn't help it! I can see why people drink spiked egg nog during the process. My 2 yr old son was a HUGE help. It is all beautiful!

BFD, I have 4 strays on my back porch as we speak. One of my hubby's bosses cat had a litter in the spring. They are all wild now but one. And it got saved because it got injured and someone took pity. I have 3 of the kittens. And a bobtailed black cat that I thought was a Yorkie, it's so big. I would like to hear how yours became Jewish though....

    Merry Christmas one and all...

Okay, I gotta know -- how is your cat Jewish?

Since you asked, purza, I copied this pm that I sent to momz after she asked about ...

    Simon the Jewish Cat.

Ok so you already know I found Simon in the woods. I like to ride the trails on my brothers property on my 4-wheeler. One day I stopped at one of my favorite spots to smoke a cigarette and heard meowing coming from under the old trailer that the hunters use during hunting season. There was Simon a little tiny silver kitten, his eyes not even open yet. So I looked all around to see if I could find the rest of the litter. I even crawled under the trailor, I looked everywhere. No sign of a litter or momma kitty anywhere. So, I took him home with me. I couldn't leave him there.

At the time, I lived on a dairy farm. So I went to the milk house and got a bowl of milk and stuck his head in it and figured either he's gonna drink or drown. He drank. After about 6 weeks of feeding this kitten fresh milk (I even warmed it up for him on the stove) he would not eat anything else. I bought Kitten Chow, canned food. Nothing worked, the fucker wouldn't eat. All he wanted was warm milk. And he demanded it!

One weekend my nephew stayed over and in the morning we were having bagels and cream cheese. So nephew is sitting there at the kitchen table with his bagel in hand when Simon took a flying leap and grabbed onto his bagel and wouldn't let go. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. From that day forward he has been known as Simon Silverberg the Jewish cat.

It was a challenge trying to find a Menorah in this town. What a bunch of hillbillies! Another long story. Please don't ask. BFD

LOL. I love it. Thanks for telling the story.

On another note, I foster kittens (both with a mother and sometimes mother-less) and we are always told not to feed them cow's milk. Obviously if that is the only choice, they will survive as your story clearly states. Sounds like Simon is a trooper -- thank you for providing him with a good home.

Tonight, I performed a Christmas concert in an orchestra with 2 of my children. Then we attended a Christmas banquet. It was lots of fun and a good start to the season. Last year, I didn't decorate much because we were meeting regularly with the local Witnesses. This year, they haven't been around, so I will enjoy decking the halls again. For our family, it is about celebrating the gift of the Saviour, and expressing our love to one another.
