The Final Fallacy: If Witnesses Ruled the World

After all the disproofs and debunking of the Watchtower Society are done and its status as the "truth" is destroyed, we are left with one final

argument supposedly in their favor: if the whole world was nothing but Jehovah's Witnesses, it would be a peaceful paradise.

This is the last argument that held me in the "truth" as an elder - inspite of all the lies and corruption I encountered in "Jehovah's

organization" - and I can read that some of you still may be swayed by it.

We have no way to test this proposition other than by extrapolating the current behavior of Jehovah's Witnesses into goverance of this

    globe.

First, ask yourself, how can an organization remain free from corruption without the freedom to expose it? "Who watches

the watchers"? What would the Watchtower Society be collectively doing to children - if no "rebels" or "apostates" were

alive to expose its wrongdoing - and use 'worldly' governments to suppress its misdeeds? What would the world be like

if all freedom of the press was abolished - in favor of a tightly controlled Watchtower press? Who are protecting the children?

The Governing Body? or "Satan's world"?? Would you prefer a leadership that is absolutely unaccountable to vote or

    impeachment?

Second, how eager are Witnesses to punish? to shun? If you were accused of a crime, would you rather face a judicial

committee - with its secret trials, its refusal to allow legal counsel, its uneducated 'justiciars' and its extremely limited

appeals - or would you prefer a 'worldly' court - that at least attempts decent standards of justice? Many nations ban

capital punishment - and allow the innocently convicted a chance thereby. Would Jehovah's Witnesses do the same?

In Iran, women may be beaten and have their makeup removed with a razor. How far away would such behavior be,

given the Biblical act of stoning?

Third, extend the severe lack of productivity in the "ministry" to general society. Would such create a prosperous world?

Would "materialism" be condemned - in favor of a general poverty, that often characterizes a totalitarian nation?

Fourth, How honest are Jehovah's Witnesses, really? Would they return your wallet - but hide your child's molestation?

Would they give back your misplaced songbook - but endlessly lie about predictions, statistics, and scandals?

The above is merely part of why my final apologia of the "truth" collapsed. Feel free to add your own observations.

Excellent observation. I remember being on the porch of a friend's home some two summer's ago. I was with two other elders and we were talking about the politics of the BOE.

I remember that I became quite animated at what I perceived to be a general lack of Christianity in the working of the body. I said to my two friends that night that if the new system was going to be run by men like our PO and some of the others, then I would rather not be there.

Looking back, the times that I sensed the most egregious failures of Christianity were at events sponsored by the branch. They sucked all the love, joy, and fellowship out of everything they did only to be replaced by a cold and impersonal efficiency. When they were in charge it was all business --- and not so efficient.

    Glad I'm out of there.

    Great thread--- as usual.

It would be Orwell's 1984 only worse!

I imagine that it would be worse than Iran - because they at least have a minimal framework of democracy and don't immediately identify

and execute dissenters. Worse than Iran would really be frightening.

    Hi

Good point,in other words who police the police? In the land of fantasia they claim that they will have certain controls. It does not make sense why will God need a government anyway? and we all know what happens under a dictatorship . It is also a ridiculous argument to say that God's Government will rule because if the new world needs ruling there must be a shortage of harmony.

Another barmy doctrine is the the one where the devil gets locked up for a thousand years I mean come on if he is real he should have been locked up years ago.

As usual it's a load of spherical objects.

I submit that Orwell's Animal Farm would be closer to the mark. There is an essay in the form of a diary entitled The Diary of an Armageddon Survivor on the net attributed to Michael Pendley which is eerily like what I think one could expect if that scenario came true.
