Has anyone ever used one before??I just got one because I've been having alot of trouble with my nose being very dry and the back of my throat felt sore from it.I heard about them from TV.The Oprah show I think.I also was had a sinus headache today.

I'll tell ya it was a strange feeling when I was doing it.I felt kinda like I was almost drowning but I could still breath through my mouth. My nose feels better it's not dry any more and my sore throat is gone and my head still hurts a little but not as bad.I think I'll try using it again later today after I wake up to go to work tonight.

    Hi,

Yes we have one. I use it alot and love it. I had a lingering sinus problem and it seems to be clearing up.

    Yes, I do have one.

A little water, a little salt...

Best remedies are often the simplest...and the most natural ones.

I don't like the neti pot - but I do something similar for my sinuses. I just buy a bottle of "ocean" which is a sterile saline solution and I spray it into my nose until I can feel it draining down the back of my throat. I have 50 years of sinus infections, when I finally started doing this it really helped me get over infections faster.

I too have chronic sinus problems. I do a saline rinse of my sinuses as well, though not with a neti pot. I've heard a lot of people talking about the drowning sensation with it. I use a nasal aspirator (a bulb like you use with a baby), fill it with saline solution, then sniff as I deflate it into my sinus. Gets it way up into the upper sinus.

This used to be the "home remedy" but it's one that now the doctors themselves will advocate. I at least have had more than one recommend it to me.

I've been wanting to get one for my allergies and sinus issues, I keep putting it off though.

The instructions said to do it first on my right side and then repeat on the left side. The drowning sensation was while I was doing the left side.I know what drowning feels like because I almost drowned as a kid.I almost had a panic attack from it when I was doing the left side.Next time I'm only doing one side and that's it.I don't think I could take more than that.

I LOVE my Neti Pot !

Every year, my allergies cause so much congestion -- and thus a great place to grow germs, I end up with sinus, then ear, then lung infections. Ended up at the hospital a couple of times.

Not since I've gotten my Neti Pot !

I don't use it every day, only when I start feeling stuffy. The only cold I've gotten lasted 1/2 the normal time and I was a lot less miserable.

It was weird the 1st time. Using warm water helps a lot. Just follow the instructions carefully to minimize the scary part...1st time. For me it was not at all like drowning, it's more like getting water up your nose when you jump into a pool. It's better, because there's no high chlorine and it's warm.

Once you get used to it, you can actually feel the water gravity drain, by tilting your head, into each of your 4 sinuses. Gravity flow is considered much safer than pressure feed, because you don't want to push germs into the ear canals, for obvious reasons.

    Love 'Em !

Btw, if anyone is looking for a Neti Pot, they can be found at Walgreen's, CVS, etc. I had trouble finding them, because nobody knew what one was -- except the pharmacist.

They are sold as "NasaFlow' in the sinus meds area for about $12, mine had 50 packets of sea salt & bicarbonate soda (for ph balance).
