I Just Have to Share This

My estranged hubby and I have a brilliant 18-year old daughter who has been working since the age of 16. She received a full academic scholarship plus numerous monetary awards for her high school achievements. Needless to say, she's built up a nice little nest egg.

Estranged hubby has always been an exceptional father. For instance, when Baby Girl needed an abacus in 3rd grade, he made one for her. He taught her how to drive, paid for her orthodontic treatments, and bought her contact lenses when vanity came a-callin.' He is such a proud papa.

Well, Proud Papa needed a quick loan this weekend. I couldn't help out; none of his friends could come up with the amount needed, so he was forced to ask Baby Girl. Well, our little darling blister didn't disappoint him. She wrote out the check for $900 with a smile and a flourish. Watching her do it, my chest became so constricted that I had to walk away before I broke down into tears.

It is such a touching moment when we realize that, yes, we've done a good job of raising our kids.

As I said, I just wanted to share this.

Such a proud moment to know that you've raised a responsible young woman. I haven't come across many 18 y/o who haven't wasted that amount on frivilous and silly things.

Good for you! You get a gold star

Great character for an eighteen year old. I hope the ex-hubby plans to pay her back.

Yes, we've raised a fine daughter. And yes, papa will pay it back. He talked me into asking her because his Jamaican pride wouldn't allow him to.

Ya'll have raised a wonderful contribution to society. Sadly that doesn't happen every day. And I love the fact that you and hubby are estranged yet able to act like grownups and parent together. Way to go!!!

Yeah momcrazy - estranged and cooperative for the benefit of others and ultimately each other. What silly adults they must appear to the WTBTS.

Yeah, he puts a lot of the so-called theocratic dads to shame. He went to the KH with me a couple of times, but quit because he stated he could never submit to such control.

Our breakup was due more to cultural differences than to religious ones. We agreed to raise our child without rancor or bitterness on either side. It worked out beautifully.
