If I'm not mistaken Habitat is one charities witnesses deliberately avoid (I've forgotten why).

In all fairness this family may be new, inactive or just not know "which end is up", witness wise.

I certainly hope they don't suffer any reperccussions form the local cong. they associate with.

Habitat is somewhat faith based. (note the cross in their logo) Thus supporting it would be considered inter-faith and therefore the reason the JW's avoid them.

I've helped on a couple of builds and Habitat does some excellent work and gives a hand up rather than just hand outs. They do good works motivated by their faith rahter than just preach salvation. Is it any wonder the Dubs avoid them?

On Sunday, the builders handed the family a Bible, then an interfaith prayer book, then a copy of the Koran. The prayers and good wishes for them and their house came in several languages: Arabic, Hebrew, Sanskrit, English and French. There was even singing.

all of us know that the watchtower encourages its members to use any kind of assistance they qualify for, how many pioneers are on food stamps? how many jw mothers are on wic and their childrens insurance is paid by the state? nothing wrong with signing up and qualifying for habitat for humanity house. what is so shocking to me, the recipients and the other jw's in the crowd participated in a church service. that is a disfellowshipping offense. accepting literature printed by other religions is a disfellowshipping offense. now, burgertime is from that area, maybe he'll let us know how many of the attendee's are disfellowshipped in the days to come.

I know of a JW that donated his crews for Habitat for Humanity. He now spends his time on the RBC.
