Writetoknow is coming on here with an attitude, basically daring us (atheists) to hate him.

    I won't take the bait.

suffering you think maybe we suffer and are comforted by the scriptures and in that way, when others suffer we can use our experience to help comfort them??? Just a thought.

Buff: Ah, ok. Glad I can offer sympathy to other rape victims. It's so much nicer when we can all suffer together.

    Hmm...too catty. I apologize.

It's just that finding the "redeeming feature" to "God allowing us to suffer" - indeed, in placing suffering on a pedastel - makes me feel like a masochist, believing we are destined to suffer, supposed to suffer. I can't buy that. Suffering exists because of what humans want and do.

I'm not quite an atheist yet, so I guess I can rise to the bait a little bit. But postings like this make me realize more and more that, for me, atheism may be the only real answer.

The point is that some can't understand? Sarcasm is a nice defense and belittling always helps. People suffer for all kinds of reasons God does even have to come into play. And if your an atheist then none of it should matter anyway it just the way animals are - right?

However, you can't post on this thread without atheist sarcasm (not all, but no one will actually read this line.) I did not post this for those that don't understand I posted it for those that do understand to encouragement them.

I don't expect to encourage someone that does not believe in God I would think the information would be offensive to them.

I hope that I am not the only person who noticed that during that long, lonely homely, the question as to why God permits wickedness was not answered.

The usual modus operandi is used to "butter up" the reader and make them feel as if they are morons and will never understand anything until "Gods spirit" enters their hearts. The problem is the writer does not seem to have a logically satisfying answer himself.

Where have you read what is written below before?

We need spiritual minds to understand spiritual truths.
Because most people don't comprehend this truth, they fail to see the difference between Christianity and every human religion (including Judaism which, although instigated by God, does not share the unique nature of Christianity.)
It is naturally illogical and unfathomable to the intelligent human mind. There is no way that one can acquire this understanding by human effort. Unless it is revealed to a person it will remain forever a mystery. However, God has a plan and a timetable to reveal this truth to everyone who draws breath.

The whole premise of this persons argument is based on the premise known as the bare assertion fallacy, a logical fallacy that requires special pleading in order to even be presented.

Sorry mate. This one does not have legs. Try another.

Oooh, thank you oh brilliant person!!! See, sarcasm is'nt a defense, and I'm not an athiest. I just don't like sanctimonious people cramming stuff down my throat, telling me what to do...

Did'nt Jesus go preach to those who did'nt believe? Paul? Did'nt they mostly preach to the non-converted? Even if I did believe the way you did, it'd still come off as sanctimonious prattle...

I would like to speak for the "godless massess" As an individual who is intelligent and well educated in many religious theologys I can say that suffering is not the intent of the creator.

I would most definitly be classed as an atheist by many here and as a true believer by others , I suffer no label and no affiliation whatsoever.

All the people picking sides are missing the point. The creator/creative force doesn't have an intent that could ever be understood by our meager intellect . The divine and infinite is by nature unfathomable .

Taking a stance of knowledge and certainty is the mark of hubris and foolishness of the highest order.

We are meant to learn a few lessons in this existence 1 Love your creator, easy enough I'm glad to be here. 2 Love your fellow creations , also easy I love the world and everything in it.

Thats pretty easy , if you love something you can't very well do harm .

The effort wasted on putting forth unprovable dogma would be better spent learning more about being the best creation you could be , don't you think?
