A televised news report from a local Fox channel credits the members of another church with first discovering the blaze and making the call to 911.

Here is a short piece of video from the newspaper's site...

It is good that no one was in the building at the time. The society is in a win win situation. They will send the friends to another hall, which will inconvenience some and the elders and ministerial servants will sit back with no responsibilities in the other hall, unless the elders and servants want to share the work load. Then if the society wants to they will rebuild two day quick build, with the regional committee deciding the date to do it.The society will collect twice, one from insurance and one from the friends as they donate a sum of money to go to the world wide work fund and special money to go to the building work.

Or the society could just do nothing and the circuit overseer could ask to have the congregation split into two other congrgations and the society could sell off the property to christendom.

Am I missing something here? Or, is that about the way it will go?

There seems to have been one hell of a lot of Kingdom Hall fires just lately!

Anyone got any statistics on this?

Are they burning them down themselves or is someone doing it 'for' them?

You don't hear about this many church fires! Smells fishy!

Nvr. Thanks for the link to the video. There will be an investigation to determine if it was arson or accidental or poor work done.

it was thrown together in 3 days does no one check its done properly?

The required inspections are always made.

But the inspectors are typically love-bombed.

    LOL!

I think this will change the way the Kingdom Halls are built.

Typically, it's young girls that are on the insulation crew.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Also, those canister lights are rated to withstand high temperatures.

It will be interesting to see what the investigation yields.

why were the lights left on if no one was there?

Funny that, usually they are so anal about keeping the electric bill to a minimum.....

It might not be arson. The Kingdumb Hells are known for sloppy workmanship. You have window washers building the damn things, and they have to go up in three days. They use crap materials to save money, and people do not always know what they are doing when installing the electric and gas connections.

This might have resulted in a number of potential fire hazards. Short circuits and wires with too much current lead to fires, especially if those clowns don't know how to wire up the fuse box so it will do its job. Short circuits are not surprising, given that window washers are hooking up the outlets. Heaters are also hazardous when poorly installed or are of crap quality. They could have a gas leak or flammable materials where they could ignite. These things can blow up or catch fires.

If the fire was near the roof, my best guess is that the lighting is at fault. All it takes is for those window washers to mess up when hooking up the light fixtures, and you get yourself a short circuit. Not to mention if they dubbed up on the roof, it leaked, and water leaked onto live electrical lines near the roof. The exterior lighting is the most likely culprit. And, with the crappy materials and wretched labor, I am surprised that more of these ugly structures don't burn to the ground.
