I immediately received a boiler-plate reply. Here it is:

I read it. Good job.
Good reply. Way to make their holy reply appear as holey as it truly is.
Excellent letter. Speaking as a mental health professional who commenced training in the early 1990s, I was very well aware of the adverse longer-term effects of child sexual abuse. It was certainly not new on the curriculum.
I find it curious that the Watchtower appears not to have disclosed this woman's credentials or discipline. From what she says, she appears to be a social worker. If she is, she should know that her profession was one of the earliest to publicize the adverse impact of sexual abuse in the 1970s. I find it equally curious - to say the least - that no one from the mental health profession in the USA has come forward and questioned this woman's lone opinion.
Thanks OTWO and Abandoned. Clever word twist -- their holy reply appear as holey -- as it truly is, Abandoned.

It's so good to have people in the know weighing in.

Nice letter. Good job.
You mean they rebutted NBC that was dumb.
I read her rebuttal. Totally lame. That is their DEFENSE???? Pedophilia wasn't morally and legally wrong until WHAT YEAR??? Is that their entire answer to the news report? They are pathetic. And evil.
There is a related angle to this sordidly lame Watchtower defense:
If the Watchtower is truly God's channel, it should have been at the forefront of measures to protect children, not trailing way behind worldly organizations.
I clearly remember that, when the Watchtower made a "ruling" in the 1970s that JWs who continued to smoke tobacco would be disfellowshipped, brothers made comments along the lines of "This shows how the organization is way ahead of the world in matters of health and morality". So, if that really is the case, how do they explain their archaic, reactionary policy on child abuse? They can't, although their sanitised explanation, quoting the lone opinion of some woman from an unknown discipline is very telling.
