    Hi everyone,

My name is Scott Fitzgerald and I am a student at the University of Phoenix. I chose asynchronous learning because I hold down a full-time job, but I am trying to better my life by finally pursuing a Degree as a Health Administrator and eventually a Radiologic Technician; I am 45 years old. Better late than never.

I have an intriguing assignment due that consists of a thesis devoted to the core beliefs and teachings of Jehovah"s Witnesses. I am not contacting you to judge but to better understand your religion and quote accurately the basis of your core beliefs.

I had a choice of any religion to choose from, however, I chose Jehovah's Witness. Why?; I have driven past Jehovah's Witness Halls all my life, wondering what goes on behind the doors and walls. I have spoke with Jehovah's Witnesses who have come to my door. The conversations always consisted of trying to understand one another's religion; I am a Lutheran.

I could research all of my questions over the world-wide web, but I would like my papers contents to be true and come straight from the heart of a Jehovah's Witness. In addition, finding someone at one of the Jehovah's Witness Halls who has time to answer my questions has been difficult because of schedule matching.

My thesis consists of twenty-one questions; starting with "who is God," everything in between, and ending with "what work is done at your headquarters and branch halls."

In return, I promise I will make available my paper to all who want to read it, and that the paper will be read not only by my instructor, but all of my classmates, and if good enough, be entered into the college's library.

I look forward to hearing from anybody who would love to have their voice heard and help out a student.

My personal email address is [email protected]. I encourage you to email me directly.

Thank you for allowing me into your lives.

    Peace and Love,

    Scott Fitzgerald

The vast majority (but not all -myself included) are ex-JWs on this board

Nah, they tend to softpedal it. The ex's on here are usually more educated on what the JW's believe than JW's themseles. Ask away! also, look on the "best of" section of this board... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/32/1.ashx

I think any of the ex-Jws here that can refrain from swearing whilst giving a description of the practices and core beliefs of JWism should reply in as an unbiased and honest manner possible.

The wierdness sells itself, no seasoning required.

    Welcome.

Most people know Jehovah's Witnesses by their proclamations of "the end is near." They have proclaimed this many times. The first President of the WTBible and Tract Society, Russell, said that the end would definetely be here in 1914. Then, the second President of the WTBTS wrote a pamphlet called "Millions Now Living Will Never Die." I believe it was published in 1921 or 22. Later, he predicted the resurrection of the prophets of old in 1925-including King David and others. He even had a huge house built in California and deeded it to them. Many years later, after having used it as his summer home, it was sold. Later, the end was predicted for 1975-and if it did not come in that year, it would be just a matter of months, not years, before it came. Well, of course, here we are.

Lots of other historical data about Jehovah's Witnesses can be found on this forum. For instance, at one time, vaccinations were considered as "taking pus into the body" and other equally bizarre beliefs. Once most of us found about about alot of them, as well as the above info, we no longer wished to be associated with this organization.

Oh, yes. That puts us at great odds with them. Because according to their literature, no one can understand the Bible without the Watchtower to explain it to them, and anyone who is not a baptized Witness is ultimately worshipping Satan.

    Hope this helps.
