One thing that's frustrating about the witnesses is that they'll throw you two lines of reasoning, arguing on both sides of the fence. One week's Watchtower study could have language that basically states that if you don't pioneer you won't make it through armageddon. Then, the month after that it'll be a "Jehovah is happy with your best effort." This duality puts a lot of people in an emotional tail-spin, not sure what is expected of them. If you ask 100 witnesses what the society says on any given topic, you'll get at least a dozen answers, all with Watchtower articles to back it up whether it be on tattoos, anal sex, or costume parties. How can they call themselves "united in worship" when the congregations can't even agree on whether theme-parties are okay?

I guess it won't be a stunner when I announce that I spend $100 per month on anti-depressants. I started taking them at Bethel. When I mentioned to other Bethelites that I'd started taking meds, lots of others said they were already on them too.
What's weird about my case... Started taking meds, started questioning, doubting, and thinking of leaving the JWs. Went off the meds for a few months and was miserably depressed and praying for Armageddon. Went back on the meds, and here I am. I think it's Holy Spirit revealing that JW=depression and relief=exJW.
