O.k. So this is the deal. I am completely fumming mad over this. You all know how the Jdubs do not associate with worldly people and are always saying that the "worldly" people will be destroyed and only JW's are worthy to live. Also how immoral the "worldly" people are, yadda yadda.....

Well, it recently came to my attention that a "sister" in my old congregation, HINGHAM MA, has turned to a "worldly" organization for financial help to purchase a van she is in need of. Not only that but this "sister" is using a program SPECIFICALLY set up during the "worldly" HOLIDAYS so other "worldly" people can contribute to those in need during the holidays. The program runs in our local newspaper and the names are changed for privacy but because of the details and town this lady lives in, I know for sure who it is.

This same lady when she found out my hubby and I left the organization told her grandaughter, a friend of my unbaptized daughter, not to call our daughter anymore becuase we are apostates. Apparently she is trying to raise her grandaughter as a jw. btw: That was fine with me because her 13 year old grandaughter was smoking and having sex with a 14 year old boy. And I told my daughter that "she" was bad association for my daughter anyway.

Now, don't get me wrong, this lady does have a real need. She is raising 5 disabled kids she adopted without a husband and needs the van to bring them to special school programs and the Hingham MA congregation has never reached out to help this lady in any way. But come on, isn't it hypocritical to accept help from the people and programs you are trying to condem? This lady doesn't let ANY of the kids even talk to their nieghbors but yet is going to receive help from not only her nieghbors but other people all over MA, probably ALL of which are NOT JW's.

Why is it that JW's have no problem condeming "worldly" people but yet take advantage of the programs these people set up and donate to?

    Hypocrites I say!

I think it says more about the Congregation that's forced her to go to a Worldly Organisation than the sister itself, but I don't disagree with you that it's hypocritical.

She's certainly lucky that the Worldly Organisation she's seeking help from don't care about her religion as much as her own religion cares about others.

    Yes they are hypocrites.

They have no pedofiles neither in their Organization, just the Catholics do.

    Lilly,

Wouldn't it be great if this persons' *generosity* with those children got on the news! Think about it. There she is minding her own business, and here comes channel 2 news to film her getting the her van!!!!! With all the Christmas cheer an event like this deserves. People come together this time of year to help people from all denominations.

    Wouldn't that be great!!!!!

    4,

I would love to see it on the news. But knowing this lady, since she is a JW, she will probably not agree to having the news do a story about it. Bad enough it is in the paper but there her name is changed to protect her identity. The trouble is they put in too much information about her including her town, how many kids she had, what disabilities they had, how many where girls and how many boys, etc.

I am glad in a way she is getting the help because I'll tell you my family and I were in the Hingham MA congregation for more than 10 years and they are one of the WORST ever congregations for caring for the elderly and widows. It was pitiful really how not even one elder would assist these poor ones.

But since Hingham is an affluent area the elders had no problems helping the rich ones in the congregation when they had needs. I could remember them painting one sisters home, who had an unbelieving mate. And mowing another single, rich and attractive sister's lawn every week. But yet the poor old widows got NO HELP at all. And as far as I've been told recently, it is still the same today.

Higham MA JW's should be ashamed of themselves. Lilly

So basicallly, though they have tax exemption, nothing is really put back into the community. Most religious organizations, during most of the year, not just the holidays, give back to the community. Child care programs, youth programs, elderly programs, etc etc. What exactly are they giving back.

Sad. You know if it wasn't for them having the "truth" they wouldn't have anything.

They learn it from the Organization itself.

They want tax exemptions, but do not do charitable works. They now allow blood fractions, but do not allow their members to donate blood to make them. They will disfellowship for a JW joining the YMCA/YWCA to exercise, but will take donations from religious charitable organizations, and allow their members to also.

Hypocrisy filters from the top down!

Find out what day the van is being given to her and tell the news to just show up?

I agree. Hypocricy at work. Though it is really what the organization promotes isn't it? Think of all the welfare drawing pioneers out there.

I agree with Zico, it says alot about the hall that she had to go outside it for help. I am glad she is getting it, too. In my old hall a wealthy brother paid the mortgage off. But many in it are rubbing pennies together. And in Utah there was a family of pioneers who could all work, the dad did, part time. They were on food stamps.

They are confused kids in adult bodies like deacon said.
