Does paradise still seem attractive to you?

"A place of extreme beauty, delight or happiness". I think we can get little fragments of paradise here and there in life,

    That appealed to me also.

But when I started to think about it, I realize the JW picture would not and will not ever work. And life with mind control nazis no matter how pretty it is does not sound attractive to me in the very least.

So working on paradise a little here and there right now.

Well, O.K., yes, I must admit it still does. I do not mind yard work, in fact I really enjoy growing flowers, fruits, and vegetables. I love animals and learning about them. I love beautiful views, and taking walks on the beach, in the mountains, etc. That is why I was so devastated to find out that we are not "just around the corner," "so close it's like the inside of my eyelid" kinda thingy.

I would give up alot to have the assurance of a peaceful beautiful life free of sickness and death for my child, and her children.

    Oh, well......

Prior to my leaving, the so called paradise earth, began to feel repugnant to me. Elders insisted I would have to remain with my abusive JW husband in the new world and that he would become a nicer person then. To just suck it up till then even through it had already been 25 years after the predicted date of 1975. To have survive the end and live with such a man was enough to make me want to kill myself. No I never have any desire for the JW vision of paradise. When I left in 2001 death was preferable to wanting to be in the paradise earth according to the JW's.

Living in Paradise with the God of the Watchtower is scarier than any "hell" that could be imagined. No thanks. Lilly

NO, no and NO. I'd rather chew glass for eternity than have to fake a smile to all those witlesses forever and worry the big Sky daddy is going to bust my ass for some small infraction of the rules.

The Watchtower does not have a lock-up on utopian ideals. Sir Thomas More's Utopia, the movie Pleasantville, and Edward Bellamy's Looking Backward, not to mention Marx's The Communist Manifesto all embrace these ideals. In Pleasantville, however, they figure it out: the only way to have a "perfect" society is to suppress human nature. One of the criticisms (legitimate, IMO) of these movements is that they ultimately lead to excessive control and oppression.

It probably is not possible to conceive of a "perfect" society where everything is great for all, not just the "elite."

I'm already tired of doing the same old crap after 51 years of exsistence. I want to continue doing this forever? No thanks.

Not in the least. Life is a spice rack of adventures of hope fulfilled and even times of despair that build character. If all was perfect in paradise, it would be like going to the spice rack and only finding salt. A diet high in salt is never healthy!
