2007: It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.
2008: I have been emancipated from corporate wage slavery and I hope to finally figure out what I wanna be when I grow up.

2007
The Good:
Resolved to follow through on my lifelong dream of being a competent guitar player, started a daily practice regimen during the summer that is starting to pay some real dividends. I like to think that if I keep it up, by the time I'm 42 or 43 I'll really be jamming. Then by age 50 I'll be completely carpal-tunnel and arthritic, lol.
The Bad:
Same old dumb job, car, house.
The Ugly:
Still no marriage (or even longtime gf) prospects :( I'm starting to feel like there is something seriously wrong with me, like there is some gaping hole in my emotional/social awareness that women (the more emotionally/socially aware sex) pick up on immediately. Had a brief reunite with a gf from 2006 that went nowhere.
Dan, posting a lot tonight, the beer probably has something to do with it

2007 was actually an interesting year for me, 2006 was absolutely the worst.
In Feb/Mar? I finally came forward with a big secret I had for years, and that I was struggling with sexuality issues, it has been very therapeutic since, and was like a ton of bricks was lifted off my shoulders.
I made several trips to Ohio during the spring and summer, attended my family reunion.
July--I was extremely broke and living from check to check, and eating canned soup, then one day I received a surprise letter in the mail, it was from a life insurance company. It seems that my Grandma who died in 2005 left my brother and I a small, but decent sized life insurance policy. The money came in handy, and I was able to get brake work and new tires for my car, plus pay off my car payment. This was a miracle for me.
From August to November I was gone about every other weekend in Ohio, Ky, or Nashville.
In September I attended the Exodus International Southeastern Conference. There were alot of people there, and I enjoyed talking to them and hearing their experiences. Nashville was such a really cool city that I decided to go back the following month for another visit.
On Sept. 29 I was back again in Dayton for Darin's Toastmaster Charter night event. It was a fancy affair, black tie, white tablecloths, etc etc etc. At that dinner I got to meet the chairman of the county Republican party and also the Deputy Chairman of the ORP (Ohio Republican Party).
The following week I went to Kentucky to the annual Apple Festival, I saw alot of my family and even some of my old friends that I havent seen in awhile. I also attended church services that weekend at the old log church.
The week after the Apple festival, I once again went back to Nashville for a visit.
2 weeks after Nashville I went up to Ohio to spend the remaining week before election helping my brother on his campaign for city council. He lost the race, but we had a whole lot of fun playing the game. He is just like me, he does not give up, and will continue his bid for a political office in the future.
The following Sunday after that we went down to Kentucky to visit family again, and also attend the thanksgiving dinner at my church there. On that trip we went and saw the elk that have been reintorduced into Kentucky. We only saw one elk at that time, but we were happy just to see that.
Now that the excitement of the last few months is over, Im going to concentrate on making 2008 even better.
This sure has been some year.
