How do you feel about Photo Radar?

Recently, in my great city of Phoenix, Arizona, I received a notice of violation for speeding even though the actual person (a woman) who was captured by the photo radar was driving a car which wasn't mine with a plate that wasn't registered to me. I took it to the media and they did an interview with me, which you can see here: www.kpho.com/video/14785490/index.html

My biggest issue or concern is that I am jumping through hoops to clear this up with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. I feel like a simple phone call to someone at DPS should resolve everything. Instead, I am required to send a letter stating all the facts, along with a copy of my registration. Pain in the backside!

Anyone else run into a similar situation?

I don't like the idea of photo radar, if someone else was driving your car you either payup or rat them out.

    DJK:

It wasn't me nor was it my car. It was an error by the DPS.

So, what would you do in this scenario?

This sounds like a real pain in the butt. Once an error like this is made, it almost takes an act of congress to correct it.

    Dinah-

The DPS is so stubborn about this. They refuse to look at their own database to see the error they made. Also, when the reporter offered to fax DPS the copy of the violation WHICH DPS SENT TO ME, they claimed that it could be altered and that they won't trust a fax. Nope. They will only accept a letter from me in the mail.

I understood that. If it were me I might request a court hearing or a hearing with the DPS. It will be a pain in the a$$ but eventually it will be resolved.

DJK - If my letter doesn't get this matter resolved, I will take it to court.

Junction-Guy - Why are you against them? I'm against them, too, but I'd like to hear your perspective.

Mainly because I dont like big government or big brother. If they want to catch you speeding, then do it the old fashioned way.
