Don't get me wrong I am not slighting the incarceration of J. Witnesses in the concentration camps but I recently read an article in the Wacktower about the suffering endured in the concentration camps.

Thanks were profusely given to Jehovah and for the fortitude of the brothers and sisters during that terrible time but glaringly not one word of thanks,not one word in recognition of what the allies sacrificed and did was mentioned .No mention at all of any soldier ,sailor or airman laying down their life to rescue the inmates of those hell holes.

Do the Governing Body really believe that no thanks are called for on behalf of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice ? How can anyone show respect for that crazy cult .Do they really believe that Jesus is going into battle on their side when they so disregard what others have done for them ? According to their twisted logic God is going to destroy those veterans who are now old who way back when came to the rescue.

Thanks, why should they give them thanks? The Allies blundered in and prevented the Axis powers from fulfilling Bible prophecy. Consider that on the eve of war in 1938, Rutherford gave a lecture in London (covered in Time Magazine) in which he urged Churchill and the British to not resist Nazi Germany, but rather wait on Jehovah to bring deliverance -- even if that means that the Nazis overthrow the British government, which Rutherford assuredly predicted would happen:

"The time limit is up. God's kingdom is here, and Armageddon is impending....In 1933 Germany was seized by the Nazis, and is now ruled by an arbitrary dictator, which government also declares that the State is supreme, defies Jehovah God and his kingdom, and cruelly persecutes all who even name the name of Jehovah and who have in possession publications telling of Jehovah and his Word, the Bible, and his righteous government under Christ Jesus....Jehovah's witnesses and their companions, the Lord's 'other sheep', which are called 'Jonadabs', are wholly devoted to God and his kingdom under Christ. They suffer persecution continuously at the hands of the Roman Catholic Hierarchy in every nation on earth, and in such persecution the totalitarian government works with the Papacy. In Germany thousands of true followers of Christ Jesus now linger in prison because they told the truth, and for no other reason.... When the totalitarian Catholic combine gains control of the British Isles, which it is certain to do, then all liberties of the people will be at an end... What will be the condition when all nations become totalitarian? That will prove beyond all doubt that such nations have become wicked and have entirely forgotten God, and oppose his righteous government .... That means the complete destruction at Armageddon of the nations; and the ones who lead the nations to so forget God and bring about their destruction... The totalitarian combine is going to get control of England and America. You cannot prevent it. Do not try. Your safety is on the Lord's side; but there really will be but a short time that the combine will hold sway, because it is written in the Lord's Word, at 1 Thessalonians 5:3, that when this crowd says, 'We are now at peace and safety,' the Lord sends sudden destruction upon them, and they are at their wits' end, and they shall find no way of escape... (Face the Facts, 1938, pp. 9, 17-18, 20-21, 27)

You see, everything was going according to plan. Fascism was spreading and causing war, just as Daniel warned in his prophecy. There would be a great tribulation just prior to Armageddon, and it was occurring just as predicted -- the Jehovah's Witnesses in concentration camps had the honor of fulfilling prophecy. And Rutherford saw to it that the JWs would be persecuted, printing offensive anti-Catholic and political propagandistic statements in the publications, ensuring that there would be persecution as the Bible prophesied. And he did his part in trying to convince the British to let the Nazis overrun them and turn their government into a dictatorship. Don't resist them, show faith in Jehovah, he declared. With paradise looming so close, the British and other Allies just had to ruin everything by fighting the Axis powers and kicking them in the ass. Oh no, now the prophecy no longer fits. But since Rutherford was now dead, that's no problem -- we'll just make up a new scenario of how the world was supposed to end. But let's not just talk about what we really expected on the eve of WWII, okay? It might be a little embarrassing.

Thank you Edmond. My father, now deceased , was omongst the troops that liberated one of the concentration camps. He never once spoke of his service there or of his expierences. As my mother once told me he, he just CHOSE to forget about the horrors he witnessed. Thank you again

Leolaia the ravings of Rutherford are plain for all to read and that is the first time I have seen that quote which makes me think how was I taken in by the Waktower madness it was madness then and it's madness now. I wonder if guys like Rutherford are sent to teach us how not to run a religion or as an example why not to put faith in make believe.

Nomoreguilt ,your father deserves all our thanks you must be very proud of him and along with all the others who did what they had to do because they did the right thing at the right time no matter how difficult it was at that time.It gave us the decades of prosperity afterwards, even though they were not utopian years they were better than the alternative of hell on earth.

They are isolationists or at least that's how they want their R&F to feel, cut off from the world seeing absolutely nothing positive in them to maximise that sense of alienation precisely because that makes it difficult for them to leave the cult should they begin to have issues with it. It's psychological manipulation.

In reality more specifically those liberated by the Western allies have a lot of things to be grateful for, also given the immense tolerence of western democracies towards minority religious groups. A world apart from what a Nazi future would have held for them.

Strangely enough Eisenhower's parents were dubs.

My Grandfather was at Auschwich (sp). He saw the ovens and the claw marks in the gas chambers. He was also at the Battle of the Bulge. I told him thanks for fighting for our future, not as a Witness but an American. He was recently honored during Veterans Day. I also thank any veteran I see, also families who have someone serving now.

I agree wholeheartedly. The Society flattered and coddled Hitler, but no thank you's to the heroes who fed them, gave them blankets and medical care, and made the locals who knew about it come in and bury the dead.

the british bombed cities like dresden into oblivion, stalin russia was not a bit better than the nazis, the french partially collaborated, the italian switched lines for a profit...

the USA went into europe with huge losses and everyone was happy to find himself on the US side of the parted lands... while the british sent thousands of people back to the russians where they were executed.

but no hard feelings here.. things just come as they come.

Superfine Apostate - I think your comments are insulting to all the Allied Armies of WW2 who gave their lives to fight Nazi Germany, and the families that lost their loved ones. Regardless of your views on the decisions taken by the governments of the countries you condemn, how can you disregard the bravery and self-sacrifice of so many. Great Britain were fighting Hitlers Luftwaffe in The Battle of Britain with the help of the Commonwealth countries and through sheer determination and courage won against all the odds and the Blitz of London speaks for itself. The bombing on London went on day and night for months. All of the countries you don't think should get a thank you for their efforts in defeating the Nazis suffered terrible losses and should be respected and appreciated.
