Hello I found this site while researching JWs. My Motive is simply to reach out to those in the organization. Not by going after them but rather responding to them when they show up at my door. They came by again this past Saturday. I desire to reach out to them in love not in a condemnatory way. Any help on errors in their doctrines would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Yuxist

Hey! Welcome to the Real World yuxist!

I am sure some people will post some things you get you started. But here is one:

Ask a Jehovah Witness why do they added the name Jehovah in the Greek Scriptures since we don't have a single manuscript with the name?

every JW has doubts... but you need a few beers to find out. some will listen to the UN incident. some to the 607 stuff. some to the silent lambs. it's not that easy to find out at a door. hard to reason with fundamentalists.

They don't have one thing right. Take your pick.

I like talking to Witnesses at times. A really good Witness will make it take you three hours to git his name. A wannabe Witness will run at the first question you ask that they don't have an answer memorized for.

No Witness I ever met is prepared to explain their assumptions. So, at the first assumption used (usually in the first 30 seconds) jump on it and take them down with it.

If you read posts here for one month, you will know more about the Watch Tower than the majority of Witnesses . . . and have more fun too. Welcome!

yuxist, Do you want to reach out to them and help them from the frying pan into the fire or do you have a relevant truth?

Any reason that you feel the need to reach out to the witnesses and to correct their errors? Are there any other groups you feel a similar need to reach out to?

Thanks for the responses. Sorry I haven't figured out how to quote posts.................. Superfine Apostate " some will listen to the UN incident. some to the 607 stuff. some to the silent lambs" I don't know what you mean............................... jaguarbass "yuxist, Do you want to reach out to them and help them from the frying pan into the fire or do you have a relevant truth?" I know they don't believe in the physical resurrection of Jesus, because flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. The body Thomas saw and touched was a body like Jesus' but not the one that was crucified............................ steve2 "Any reason that you feel the need to reach out to the witnesses and to correct their errors? Are there any other groups you feel a similar need to reach out to?"...................................... I do admire the diligence of Witnesses and Mormans. I'll talk with anyone. I don't go door to door though.

yuxist, here are some of my experiences talking to JWs, as previously posted on this discussion board. Unfortunately, I don't go into detail, as when I wrote this I assumed that the reader would already be familiar with the doctrinal and organizational problems with the Watch Tower Society. I suggest doing a Google to reveal info on topics mentioned but not fleshed out.

Be calm and assertive. Be polite -- it could be my mother you are talking to. Have fun.

    Approaching Jehovah's Witnesses in Love:
How to Witness Effectively Without Arguing
    by Wilbur Lingle

Navigating the circular logic of most Jehovah's Witnesses' conversations can be daunting, and Lingle's book illustrates that fact clearly. Having the right information is important, but having the right questions to ask can be pivotal to break down their arguments and break through to a place where you can introduce the true Gospel. Presenting the history of the Watchtower Society, spotlighting its differences between historical Christianity, and outlining many of their unbiblical teachings, Lingle brings 50 years of ministry to the fore and instructs Christians how to address issues surround the doctrine of this cult with those held captive by it.

Also included is a 16-page pamphlet designed to test the beliefs of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

    Welcome, yuxist, and good luck!

Thanks for the replies yuxist. Helpful answers!

As to your original question: You don't want to overload the JWs with too much information. Indeed, I recommend coming across as puzzled about some of the stuff you've read about them and seek clarification from them. For example, if you know about the JWs policy on reporting child sex abuse, you can take a position of curiosity and puzzlement that they have such a policy. let them do the talking - just have some pointed questions on hand.

Keep in mind that it's not so much what you ask, but how. If you sound genuinely perplexed about yet interested in their views, you can often "lead" them to tripping up on their own words. This may take some practice and you may find that life is much more than preparing for the arrival of door-knockers! There's a whole world waiting for you beyond the Watchtower!
