Yes, I agree wholeheartedly!!! I have made the decision to leave the JW's and have spent my day reading the Free Minds website and the discussions on this forum. Thank you all for your input and for helping me to learn so much. You mention things that I hadn't thought of before as I have been in the WT brain fog. I had lunch with an ex-JW friend today, df too,(gasp!) and she offered to go out and help me "sin" so that I can get df'd and so the JW's will stop bothering me. I laughed so hard! I hadn't thought of doing that. I'm sure that they will eventually trump up something to discipline me for missing the meetings and field service. I know that they are going to come after me because they've been calling and I just haven't answered the phone. Pray for me to stay strong and that I will be able to resist their efforts to bring me back into the fold.

I appreciate about this site that it has dissuaded a few studies from joining. Summer is one of those that I remember coming here asking about that, only to learn that Jehovah's Witlesses are a cult and a scam. And there have been so many others that have been studying, have come here, and have abandoned the study. Others were inactive and on the borderline of going back only to come here. Still others are active but faking it for the sake of family members still stuck in.
One thing I like about it is that it is easy to land on by mistake. They tell you the first time that watchtower.org is the only safe site on the Web. Usually people will forget the first time, and think it was jehovahs-witness.com. Then, they go to what they thought they heard was the only safe site, and here they are. Chances are, they will read out of curiosity before realizing that they made a mistake, and get a few of their questions answered. From there, it's all downhill for their congregational activities. One less witless.

Sure never thought I'd be talking to you!!
It helps more than anything to find other people who have been through the same stuff you have lived through. That's what I was looking here, and it's what I found.
I truly don't think anyone else who hasn't sat through endless meetings, had constant scrutiny to see if we measure up, being seen as freaks--and at the same time just trying to FIT IN somewhere!!!
Yeah, this place is priceless.
