I Attended Quite a Program Yesterday

It was at my grandson's school. It lasted for about 2 hrs because some of the kids kept getting cold feet and had to be coaxed out of their stage fright.

One visitor had to pinch hit for an ill performer.

She let it be known that she is a musician - not a singer. However, she agreed to sing JESUS - WHAT A WONDERFUL CHILD a cappella.

I tell you, she didn't need any musical accompaniment! Her powerful, yet melodious, voice set the auditorium rocking. She was given a standing ovation

I sat there and thought about all the wonderful things I've been missing. And for what? To please a misguided organization claiming to speak for the Master.

That sounds like it was beautiful.....i'm glad you attended.

It definitely is great to move on from the religion and really enjoy alot of what life has to offer.

Yes, it is. The best part is not being judgmental anymore. Hallelujah!!!

    That's it, BabyG.

The sun is going to rise whether we're happy or sad.

Took me some years to realize this.

    Thanks Snowbird!

    Sounds like a beautiful experience.

My still-active JW wife and kids were sitting round the dinner table the other night openly, honestly, talking about which Christmas songs we like the best (and which ones we hate). My wife was cool with it too. Go figure.

Later on the kids were singing Christmas songs to themselves as they went about their activities and she wasn't going into JW "clamp down" mode, so it was all good.

Baby steps. Baby steps. Baby steps to freedom!

We have started attending programs like the Nutcracker Suite, A Christmas Carol, the Hallelujah Chorus, in our area. The WTS is such a grinch that even programs with "theocratic" music is frowned on. Try singing harmony during a song at the KH and see the looks you get and the talking afterwards. I know that at Bethel they have programs where people sing, play musical instruments, etc, called Family Day.

Glad to hear you went and enjoyed.
