BA you are so funny, one of my favorite posters actually! Because instead of you know coming into a thread and seeing someone attempt to turn it around and make it (just a little) constructive, you wanna post wack pictures. 'Caus that? Was. Wack. I appreciate a good burn but I was hardly amused at your attempt. I understand; you wanted t see this continue on into another theist v. atheist dragout where nothing gets said like usual and I tried to change it up. That bothered you I guess.

But its okay 'cause I know what you need.

    Some Hoff!

Because anybody can post pictures on the Internets sweetie!

Enjoy. You obviously need something in your life if thats the best you came up with and if anybody can solve a problem- even your corniness- its the Hoff! Random I know you may think pic is (rightfully so) but knowing I'm unleashing that chest hair on your eyes makes me feel good. Cringing?

    Yeah, good. Look at it!

    Burn,

Dichotomous Thinking - The describing of the world in terms of absolutes without acknowledging important gradations (example: "Atheists are intelligent; theists are stupid.").

The interesting thing in that attempting to describe an "athiests" argument you actually shoot your mate BA in the foot (presuming he still has one). Dichotomous thinking plays both ways!

I will say though, you are learning quickly. Each day you seem to flutter closer to the atheistic Darlingtonia plant. Be careful my little Christian friend, horrible things await you.

    saywhat,

    That is strawman.

You construct, in your mind's eye, a caricature of BA, then assail it.

Also, you lack a sense of humor.

    Hilary,

Likewise, a strawman of BA is attempted, but as usual, with no evidence to suppport your theory, it collapses under it's own miniscule weight.

    Keep trying, midget!

    BA- lolz.

Ok guys: I don't usually get into the middle of these threads because I don't like the "my logic is better than your logic" game. I think you all end up sounding silly and childish for it.

That being said, after being born and raised a witness and staying faithful for 47 years I know consider myself an athiest.

    Here is why:

1- Noboby can prove there is a god.

2- The god of the Bible is vengeful, narcissistic and egominaical yet he is "the personification of love"! He is a spiritual oxymoron.

3- I am a parent. God is supposed to be my heavenly father and I am supposed to imitate him. Well, I would not dream of telling my children that because I gave them life and cared for all their needs they had to worship me and build their lives around me. What's more, I would not tell them that if they did not worship me (and did it to my exact specifications) that I would torment or destroy them. Such behavior would land me in the looney bin, if not prison. I refuse to accept a god who would ask such a thing of us, and yet that is what the god of the Bible does.

4-If there is a creator or originator of some kind, I don't think he'd be silly enough to want such lowly creatures as us to worship him. The concept of worship was created by early man to explain the unexplainable and to gain control over his fellow man. We've come a long way from that, it's time we shed the god thingy.

5- Religion is divisive, destructive and emotionally crippling.

    What's wrong Sad Emo?

    Can't play to a hostile crowd? ;-)

Well it was actually a serious question! From here it looks like it is possible to make a faulty argument from asking a faulty question Oh and as for hostile crowds, if I'd had time earlier to stay in the thread, I'd have been right in there. nobody messes wid me when i'm having a crappy day!! thank you Nvr, for leaping to my defence in my absence

BA, you remind me of Rush Limbaugh. It seems you are of the "If I say it enough, with enough sarcasm, it must be so" school of thought.

S'all ok BTS I can't remember whether I've read it here yet but what about when folks deflect the issue? You know - when to get away from the current sticky challenge, they ask a completely unrelated question, or skip backwards to a facet of the argument which was discussed 5 pages earlier? That's happened to me recently - it's annoying because it's confusing - it muddies the water, so to speak. Also there's the use completely false analogy - I've encountered that here too.
