Hope everyone is enjoying their time as the holiday season(s) come near.

Recently there was a post (a really interesting and well put together post) ; I can't remember who wrote it. But it was well written, just wanted to let you know that your time in putting that together was awesome.

I was discussing with someone about Christmas of how much fun it is and what happened was they tried to get the point accross that Jesus wasn't born in Dec. That he was born in Oct. My question is not about the birth, but my question is a JW can still celebrate his birthday, as long as it is not done on the actual day of his birth which is impossible any because you cannot go back to that year in which you were born, so technically you're not celebrating your "birthday" Just your birthdate. :-) , then (aside from it being pagen orgins) what is wrong with giving gifts at Christmas? Or even observe (notice observe not worship) . It is not Christs' actual birthdate. If Christmas was in Oct, and the day of "Christmas" was then, they'd say oh Christ did not want his birthday to be celebrated.
There is no getting around or through to their beliefs and practices is there?

I have never understood why some have to justify celebrating Christmas. If you want to celebrate it then just do it. If you don't who cares?

Not even Christians (well, Anglicans) have to believe the whole story happened to celebrate xmas now...

I actually prefer to observe the pagan rituals associated with Christmas. Yule log to honor the sun, candles to encourage Mithras and the sun to reappear next year, a big evergreen tree to remind us winter won't last forever, with trinkets on it for good luck. And don't forget the mistletoe for fertility and holly, food of the gods.

    Merry Christmas!

Christmas is a cultural celebration. Atheist agnostics jews etc celebrate it.....no need to prove jesus birthday.

This is the reason for the decline of the Anglican Church. You can't cut a trees roots and not expect it to wither.

The Anglican Church does not speak for me.

You sure don't treat it secularly.

I dunno, I've seen people claim they don't believe the Garden of Eden story was real, which was the basis for the whole story of Jesus' sacrifice for their sin. People find ways around these things.
