Which of the two offers better survivability in the event of a crash?

I like the looks of the Fiat better(although the front fascia is a rip from the Scion Tc),but I have never driven one before so I can't say how well it drives,resale,etc.
I recently bought myself a 3G Eclipse with a Gas Guzzlin'6 under the hood...20 mpg so i'm thinking of only taking it out for recreation,and switching back to my trusty old Mazda which got waaay better mileage,and still goes as fast as i like to go.
