Dont join any church, ie man. Go to Christ. However theres nothing wrong with associating with others. Do what you feel is right.

    Hello JT:

    Yes, I am serious.

Have you read Augustine's _City of God_ and _Confessions_? Thomas Aquinas' _Summa Theologica_? Or, more recently, the proceedings of the Vatican II conference or the _New Jerome Bible Commentary_?

    I have.

    Hi Serena:
Logical put you on the right track. But why not consider what Jesus stated in Matthew 18: 20 "Where two or three are gathered together in my name I shall be there with them" Gather together with your children and study the Bible with them. Jesus will be right there in your midst.Maybe add a few friends who are liked minded. Does that scripture not show you that it is not necessary to be gathered together in a large organization? Just two people can sit down together earnestly seeking for truth and Jesus will be right there in among them. How strong is your faith? Do you really believe that? I think that you do. Maybe this whole rotten world will abandon you. Jehovah never will if you follow that direction. To hell with those who mark and shun you. They are not worth the powder to blow them into gehenna. THere's is coming! Bill Parker

    Hello Serena:

My name is Kim and I post as "JUSTAMOM".

I feel for your situation right now that you are torn with.
May I ask you, Fellowship is important, yes. But do you feel you have to join or go to a "CHURCH", building, to get the true encouragement you need?

Remember the encouragement at GALATIANS 5:1. And since we have come out of such a "great bondage" under man in the organization, why put ourselves 'back under' man again?

The true church that Christ formed were "people", they were the Church, the temple NOW that Jah's spirit dwells in. Not something handmade. ACTS 17:24,25.

    1CORINTHIANS 3:16

Pray that Jah through his son send you the help you need and the direction needed to strenghthen and upbuild you spiritually.
There are people out there, NO not the majority, but there are some, unlike what we have been taught in the org, who truly love our Lord and master and will be a support in that for you. Pray that our Father send them to you. Listen to the direction of the spirit and you will find joy, peace, and comfort.

I pray that you find that.
We are here for you also

    JUST A MOM (Kim)

As you know the word 'church' refers to the people and not the building....so what about hanging out with us here? You have a diverse crowd. Otherwise you could be still getting duped. The WTS aren't the only ones that mislead and manipulate....its a common trait in this field!

When I finally realized how full of crap the JW's were I went through this situation myself. What did I finally end up doing? Nothing. I eventually figured out that I can't believe in the bible or just about any other holy book so I don't go to any church or classify myself under any type of religion at all and you know what, I couldn't be happier with my life.

    I don't need to fight
    To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven.

What part of "religion is a snare and a racket" do you not understand?

I'm an atheist. I would suggest that you should spend time in natural history museums, planetariums, zoos, aquariums, the woods and the seashore.

Don't be in a hurry to buy someone else's superstitions.

A couple of things from your message stands out to me Serena. If it's really just our opinions, do you really need it?? But here's a thought, you can see if it makes sense to you.. It occurs to me that even the bible says in one of the letters to the Corinthians that "an idol is nothing in the world." You know, it's where Paul talks about meat sacrificed to idols and stuff. I think that's a good point, I mean a rock sitting by the side of the road could be an idol potentially, but it depends on the individual and their attitude towards it. In a way, people may think of religion in this way. If you don't care for it that's one thing, but you might attribute more to them than is warranted if you start thinking religions can make you do anything. Of course for many organizations you have to do certain things to be a part, but you always have the choice to say no. The reason why it's such a big deal for JW's is, of course, conscience. All these conscience matters, what it comes down to according to the bible itself is that these people are weak and become stumbled.

You also said you need association - what does that mean exactly? Do you really need to be in a church or is it just a matter of being around people? In any case, why do you need association, whatever that means for you? It seems like an obvious need that everyone would recognize, but nobody ever asks that question. How much of it is just a matter of having a sense of belonging? You could meet people at other places, or you can go to different churches. It's up to you. What you want to emphasize, the cross on top of the building or the people - is also up to you. Spirituality is found in people, religious or not. Neither status is a guarantee that they will be kind and "good association."

I'm sorry Serena, I think I may be missing some background info. You said in this thread your husband won't let you take your son to a church, have you talked to him about it? I take it both of you are ex witnesses..?
