    Who are they and why are they chosen and not you or I?

    Well there is;
    brother Sterling - passed away
    brother Heller
    sister Herring ( I wonder what brother Herring will do in the paradise,
    maybe she'll take on an earthly body and come down to give him a little lovin once in a while)

    Oh, and don't forget brother Rob Suffreta(spelling) he must be one of the replacements he's so young.

    Silly you and I are not chosen because we're not special .

    "The Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that the 144,000 is a limit to the number of people who will reign with Christ in heaven and spend eternity with God. The 144,000 have the heavenly hope. Those who are not born again will enjoy the earthly hope—a paradise on earth ruled by Christ and the 144,000. Today,the WTS claim that there are less than 9,000 heavenly class left on earth."

    Hi,
    This is total garbage from the JW's-read any Bible.

    Directly after mentioning the 144 000 Jews mentioned in Revelation 7 the Bible mentions The Great Multitude in White Robes

    Revelation 7 (New International Version)

    9After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10And they cried out in a loud voice:
    "Salvation belongs to our God,
    who sits on the throne,
    and to the Lamb."

    13Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?"

    14I answered, "Sir, you know."

    And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15Therefore,
    "they are before the throne of God
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
    and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.
    16Never again will they hunger;
    never again will they thirst.
    The sun will not beat upon them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
    he will lead them to springs of living water.
    And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

    So there will be a great number out of the tribulation alone who spend eternity with God in the New Jerusalem, not including all those who are saved throughout history.

    The Dead Are Judged

    11Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

    Regards,
    Stephen

    INKLING- We will leave you to your illusions of grandeur for the 144,000.

    Flipper: I assume you must have simply misunderstood my posts. The original question was "How does the WTS explain".

    I was simply trying to explain some of nuances of witness belief as to who ends up professing to be "anointed". I was in no way offering my support to the validity of the those beliefs. The current WT idea of the literal number of 144,000 is silly and indefensible. I do not believe anyone is actually "witnessed to" by the holy spirit, and so becomes one of the anointed... What I am saying is that I think that many professing ones sincerely FEEL that they have been touched by the holy spirit. I do not think they are choosing to partake out of a feeling of self-importance. You may think they are selfish, but we can't prove this either way, and I don't think sincerity is so far fetched. I'm confused how my comments could be taken as MY beliefs on the issue. I don't even think I was playing devils advocate so much as simply trying to describe (objectively) what is going on inside the head of a believing witness, as I thought that was the point of the original post. I knew a witness who had been brought up by his mother in that faith and who felt she was of the 144000. He was not impressed with her and could not relate to her or many of her reasonings. The other two I knew were one woman who lived with a non JW hubby in an affluent area of town and another male who ran his own buisiness. I did wonder how much it came down to having graduated in the school of WT study and how these individuals were either deluding themselves or maybe already feeling very secure in other aspects of this life in order to consider themselves as a special class fit for God. A most peculiar notion really, but nor without company when considering the nature of the all killing God of pre-Jesus philosophy now changing his mind to all forgiving. The Bible is so full of CONTRADICTORY NOTIONS that if it were a health centre it would be closed down without hesitation!

    We all know the WTBTS was wrong on many an occasion with the dogma .I think it's mainly about believing everything that comes from the tower is Gods law and the total truth upon having been printed . Never questioning the arrangement .

    They would need to be particularly deluded, and have a greater belief in 'magical thinking' than the average JW. Whilst not all of the people who claim to be 'anointed' would necessarily be mentally ill, a fair percentage probably are.

    They are choosen by the old farts in H.Q. of the WBTS.As far as replacements I can't see why after all God forgive a murderer,adulterer,(killed 70K) and he, God choose David.If there were 10,187 in 1977 that means the number of 144k had been fullfilled.So they are 30 years older today,yeah end is here.Go sell your house,cat dog,toys and go get slaves for the printing company.

    bobld, if you're going to say something negative, at least get your facts right first. The 'partakers' are not at all chosen by the org. They basically choose themselves based on the mythology they've been ingrained with by the org, coupled with varying degrees of mental and/or emotional instability.

    Actually the requirements to go to heaven are exactly the same as those for living forever on earth. There is no special holiness or bible understanding, and the WTS has stated that many times trying to get people not to start partaking. If you read the NT, you can see that there were problems in the early Christian congregation, that every member was not closer to perfection than others. They were all chosen to go to heaven.

    So jws who say they are anointed may try to "prove" the holiness or other jws may perceive some "special" holiness but that was not my experience. I found people kinder that were "great crowd" than some "professed anointed."
