They've finally given me Medication - i am on a low dosage now, usually its 20mg but i am 10mg to see how it goes and then step it up in a week if i feel i need more, but sometimes it can take a month before your body tells you whats happening anyway.

    WHOO.

Had my first tablet this morning, didnt feel brilliant but at least i know i'm not rolling on the floor and stuff lol.

Congats buddy. I'm going in to see a therapist too. I don't know if I'll get medication, but I am convinced that I need some outside help to deal with all the crap I still have inside about the cult. ((((((((((KW13))))))))))

Quite a few people I know who are JW's have illness I do not doubt there is a connection with it. I wonder if it is from the stress and stuff that they do not see that the society brings onto them.

I read a report titled "Mental Illness and Jehovah's Witnesses". I'm not sure where I found it.

Being brainwashed to believe that everything outside of the organization is bad, bad, bad can really do a number on you. Having a chemical imbalance can only make it worse. Get the help you need and live your life.

too much of that kind of medication can stuff you up even more in the long run dude. It's loaded with fluoride, for example, to dull certain parts of your brain/emotions. Work hard at other ways to get your mental balance.

what is the drug. I have tried a few, it seems some have a dry mouth side effect, and that seems to make me feel they are working, even though I hate the feeling.........good luck........oompa

thanks your kind words everyone, it really means a lot. I agree that the witnesses make things worse and are probably the cause of the health problems many ex-witnesses suffer.

I intend to finish with meds at some point, i've spent goodness knows how long avoiding them but right now its my last option.

the meds i am on are called Citalopram but the name might vary a little in different countries/places.

KW, nomb, but is it Lithium? I ask only because a fellow I grew up with had bipolar, and went through up and down cycles, primarily because he'd feel normal for awhile and stop taking the Lithium. As far as I know, it was a relatively simple supplemental treatment to compensate for an endemic/genetic deficiency, with no overt side affects (anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong).

oompa, how are you doing? Not to press you on this, but are you taking the necessary steps to deal with your own challenges?

edit to add: KW, our posts crossed. Is the med you're taking related to Lithium?
