They wouldn't allow me to get baptized at 16, then again I questioned some of the baptism questions. I guess that's a big no no.

The baptism questions do seem to expose potential apostates for some strange reason.

About the same time a Farkel, I took the plunge as well. It was a local Circuit Assembly in a rented theatre and there was an old fashioned swimming baths nearby. I was not used to swimming , it just felt cold..

I was too young to make a commitment..After all I was years away from being able to drive a car, ride a motor cycle, buy a beer - and yet I was giving my life away . I was now dedicated , to do "His will henceforth" whatever that may be, and I trusted the WTS to tell me what Gods will was.. If you saw "Lord of The Rings" it now reminds of the part where the hobbit "Pip" rashly commits himself to the service of the ruler of Minis Tirith. He could not know what he was doing, neither did I or anybody else who dedicated at that age.

As time past I swung from hot to cold and back again about it all. I only know that the things that we were all promised have never come to be. If only I had learned earlier what now know ......

I was 16 and hoping to survive. Wanted to save my "a" from the big "A". Fear is a harsh taskmaster, especially when its wrapped in LOVE. Bullshit. W.Once

Just curious, what questions did you question?

I took my dedication and baptism very seriously. I knew I was supposed to pray to Jehovah and devote my life to serving him before I could get baptized. But I thought about what devoting my life to Jehovah would entail. It meant going door to door for a minimum of 10 hours a month, attending every meeting, marrying a JW, attending the never-ending conventions and assemblies. I decided I didn't want to be a slave to Jehovah, and thus I never took the plunge.

I'm thanking myself now for not doing it. If they had removed the "dedication" step, I would've been screwed.

I got baptized at the ripe age of 13!!!!!! The Assembly before it seems a group of like 6 of my friends around my age had decided to all get baptized together...of course the obvious question was...Well, mentalclearness, when are you getting baptized?????? next assembly, there I was..signing off my life because of peer pressure.....
