JW literature - do you still have?

  I honestly can't remember when last I held a watchtower or awake in my hands - it kinda creeps me out to even think about having them near me.

  I used to have loads of magazines and books, kept my old bible, reasoning book, AID book, live forever, revelation, and greek bible for a while. But I got to the stage where I just didn't want anymore of that crap in my house - had to thow it out. The magazines alone filled a couple of black bags. I do not have one piece of literature any more.

  Do any of you still keep or still get - even if it's just to keep up to date with what's going on ???

  Since the CD-ROM, Sister fokyc has reduced much of the literature, particularly Awakes and Watchtowers.

  BUT we still have about 40 years of bound volumes, ALL the other books except for a few between 1966 and 1972

  I have ALL the Kingdom Ministry's back to the early 1950's

  Our residence is begining to sink, BUT won't blow away in the wind!

  For those thinking of getting rid of their lit would you consider donating them to an anti cult ministry or see if Rany @ Freeminds could use them? I understand the need to burn them, I myself would like to take all of my jw's stuff and burn it! I can't tell you how often I have printed out some wt quote only to have my jw say it was altered by apostates. Ask him to get the real one from the library and somehow there is alway an excuse. Once a ms argued that the apostates can make wt look real even using the same kind of paper. So I challenged him that we each get the copy in question, him from the approved wt way and I from wherever I chose, then we would split the cost and have the ink tested to see if it was from the same batch & paper (yes it can be done by regular citizens, look to print industry if you ever need it done) He declined and finally gave in that some may indeed be real quotes. Well! that wasted a good half hour or more! But a good way for the jw ms to keep off topic.

  The only jw literature I have is a complete collection of all their apologies. i.e. nothing.

  Proud recipient of the lastest two Awake magazines here! I threw up a little. The first page mentioned the UN about 5 times, quoting statistics. Oh yeah the cover talked about violence against women. I didn't make it past the second page. Once I saw that "capable wife" reference I chunked it in the garbage.

  I have all the Studies in Scriptures- The CHILDREN book, -Salvation. Religion. Prophecy
  Deliverance which on page 233 says " Filfilled Prophecy shows that about 1874 & there after the LORD began to shed gradual light upon his Word & to bring the true Christians out of Babylonish bondage & restore to them an understanding of the great fundemental truths which have been taught by the apostles but which have been hid by the blinding influence of the DEVIL."

  Further down it says

  "When true followers of Christ Jesus began to emerge from Babylonish systems after 1874 & began to search scripture ................... they soon reached the conclusion that the twenty five hundred & twenty year period of the Gentiles of necessity must end in 1914 "

  If by literature you mean 'mounds of ashes', then no, the wind took those away long ago.

  And sometimes when my mother oversteps her boundaries and sends some 'new' piece vomit producing printed material, it quickly becomes ashes and promptly taken by the South Texas wind... talk about spreading the word ;p

  I purged my "theocratic library" last month. I kept one copy of selected books, put them in a box and stuck it in a strorage closet. The rest filled up a large garbage can.

  I now have an entire bookshelf open for "real" books.

  I'm moving anf that's the best reason to give all my lit back to my mom...I have alot of things in English so she can have them...
