And I used to have a Marshall 2550 Jubilee half-stack. That is another weird story that doesn't involve chicks. Ask me and I will elucidate you.

JK, You sold a flying v? Bless your heart.
I can't play anything, but love guitarists. I got my son cheap one with the promise to buy him a good one if he learned how to play a little. That was two years ago. The only thing that gets played here is the Guitar Hero 3 game.
This is weird,
This is the first topic that I ever started that got to "Flaming" status in an hours time. Let's keep the ball rolling!

dinah,
Interesting that you mentioned "Guitar Hero." It is the anti-christ. My ex-girlfriend's sons were starting to get good on the guitar, and then played "GH" at a rich friends house. All of a sudden, they wanted the game instead of playing. I tried salvaging the situation with a friend of mine coming over and trying to get them excited about the REAL guitar again (he can play SRV and Jimi note for note), but to no avail. They would rather play than play guitar.

P.S.
My buddy Tim can even do the behind the back and tooth playing shizz.

JK,
I know a couple of kids that haved played guitar hero and still play their guitars.
I have a friend from McDonalds (I call the ones that worked with me "my McDonald's kids" because we were so close) who plays wonderfully and writes his own songs. He's written a couple that brought me to tears. One he wrote for his brother and one for his wife. Since I know him so well the songs really touched me.
We have another friend who plays in bars and we go see him play every now and then. I love going to bars to watch live bands play. One time that stands out in my memory was the night My husband and I went out with his sister and her husband. We stayed til the bar closed then partied with the band. They gave us an autographed cd. The bass player flirted with me. He was cool. Oh yeah, they all had day jobs at NASA in Huntsville. They were all engineers and two had degrees from MIT.
Funny JK, your guitar passion was an instant hit....who knew so many would be in on this, or had a lost love with strings...love it.....One of my favorite "cheap" guitars was a good rocker.....I think it was a 74 Fender Mustang....nothing fancy but some good kick........oompa
This is the current collection, that will have to be pried from my cold, dead fingers:

video games will be the final nail in our economic coffin. Back in the day... playing guitar could get you laid...or maybe even more, if one was good enough. today's kids have NO skills... they dont have to learn a damn thing except to warm up their thumbs, sit on their asses and eat junk food while the machine does their thinking for them.
When was the last time you saw a vacant lot full of kids? For fun, try to converse with one of these little brain-dead zombies.
It's a good thing we have NAFTA...today's kids wont learn the basic kid-stuff to become productive manual skilled workers. WE are in for a tough tomorrow the way things are going.
Sorry for the rant...now back to our regular program.
