Its been about year and half since my last confession since ive been on field circus and its about the same if not worse. Most just ignore the door because they can see jws coming a mile off [ that slow strolling walk and a group of twos with mags in their hands].Others just make their excuses and those that do have the mags or even a study to think of it never come to the meetings and become jw.

    Inquisitor,

I agree with you that they have an overinflated opinion of themselves and are somewhat deluded to think they have some importance in the minds of the 'world'.

When I first joined the religion I was told how 'persecuted' they were and how the churches were threatened by them and people were talking about them, etc. I was so surprised to see that hardly anybody even knew what they stood for. Most people just know they go around ringing doorbells and handing out magazines and tracts that are usually found littering the landscape. Some people might have a vague idea that they don't celebrate Christmas and other holidays and others are aware of the stand against higher education and the no blood issue.

In today's world people are so busy with both spouses usually at work that they are usually not at home when the JWs call during the week. On weekends, they are never welcome because people are usually getting well deserved sleep on Saturday or Sunday morning after a stressed out week. When and if they do find somebody who is polite or just a little curious, they go back and constantly annoy that person with persistent return visits. They jump on it like an eager dog looking for a bone and I have always been embarrassed at the dense stupidity of certain ones who refused to see that Mr or Mrs. Householder wasn't interested at all but just being polite or repressing annoyance.

I went on one RV with somebody during the summer months. This was a call with a supposedly 'interested' woman. What a timewaster! Well, the woman at home was clearly not interested but spoke to us briefly. She made it quite clear that she had her own beliefs. I felt she was only being polite because she somehow liked or was amused by the person I was with. I was relieved when we left. I hate to say it but this experience is typical of what most of them have in their return visit books: people who are really not interested and are dodging them.
