Well done dinah and your path will open as you folow your inner core and see what comes from interest and enjoyment of what you find. Sometimes there is a lull but then we have been used to more than our fair share of those! If you ever get the feeling things are getting bad remember what Churchill said,

'When you walk into hell don't stop - keep going'

Good luck whatever you walk through and out to on the other side!

    dinah,

    You said,

'It has been in the back of my mind to study psychology and help those of us who were born in and pretty messed up'.

    You should!

Here are two books to start with. My thoughts.

Adnormal Psychology by spncer a. rathus and jeffrey s. nevid.

Psychology in Action by huffman, vernoy and vernoy

    But do it for yourself.

Hopefully others will do it for themselves.

Me thinkin' me talkin' to much.

    Thanks

    Hey Dinah go for it.

The increase in your self esteem will be more than worth it. I did my degree part time over 5 years at night school, I got a huge sense of achievement.

I thinks JWD is great too i have made friends here that are priceless. As you know two in particular helped save my marriage. along with the support i received

Like you i now feel more at ease.

    Dear Dinah,

It was great reading your comments of appreciation. Our background as JWs has taught us to care for people.

I recall one specific bit of advice from an old publication: we should become friends to people in the community (via the ministry) and gain their trust. So far so good. Simply leave out the "recruitment" angle and the skewed theology and ...

Your desire to help others is step # 1. You'll find your way!

    Love and blessings,

    CoCo
